Right, finally sorted out my character. Just for the record, I was given advance warning that our GM was working on a Halo thread, since ST and I are friends. As such, anything about my character that is similar to already existing ones was written before reading any other submitted characters.

Name: Natalie Elizabeth Paladin
Call-Sign: Longsword
Sex: Female
Age: 27

Appearance: For the most part, Natalie wears the Sharpshooter-pattern ODST Battle Dress Uniform. It is primarily black and gunmetal-grey in colour, but the camouflage patterning, chestplate and visor are ice-blue.

Natalie's entire right arm and right leg from the knee down have both been replaced by cybernetics; she received both bionic limbs after one particular incident. She had modifications made to the armour of her arm and leg, so they could be attached to the cybernetics for additional protection, and also because she likes the armour and doesn't want to part from it. The titanium built into the bionics is effective on its own, but Natalie prefers to look at her armour rather than a metal limb in the middle of a fight.

If you happen to catch Natalie outside of her armour, which isn't often except when off-duty, you will find a French woman with slightly unkempt blood-red hair, almost shockingly pale skin and forest-green eyes. The armour of her right arm and leg has been built into her prosthetics, as stated above: she can remove the armour from the limbs, but it takes time to do so. Natalie stands at 5'9" tall, and is of average weight for her age.

Personality: Natalie's primary motivations for being a soldier are to follow in her father's footsteps, and to make herself feel worthy of being given a second chance to serve. She is not entirely sure that she deserves the 'gift' of her cybernetics, and constantly challenges her self to achieve greater feats or do better than she did on the last mission.

Don't tell Natalie how to do her job, especially how to aim properly: she knows the weak spots on almost any Covenant soldier like the back of her hand. She has a particular hatred and fear of Elites, as it was one of them who severed her arm and leg. As such, whenever she eliminates an Elite, she enjoys watching them fall to the ground, knowing full well that one almost ended her life.

Natalie prefers to take out the bigger guys in a Covenant force rather than waste shots on the inevitable Grunts that accompany them. Jackals irritate her when encountered, as their energy shields can cover most of their bodies, preventing her from taking them down easily. Hunters are also a pain for similar reasons. Natalie prefers to use UNSC weapons, especially her own guns, rather than arms dropped by Covenant in the midst of battle.

Outside of combat, Natalie can be a little formal or unfriendly, but that changes once she starts to trust you, both in and out of the heat of battle. If someone befriends her and the two get to know each other, she warms up to them quickly. Natalie does not tolerate stupidity particularly well, be it in speech or action. Naturally, though, she will not speak ill of a superior unless reporting them to a higher-ranked officer.

Rank: Lance Corporal
Role: Sniper
Equipment: 'Sharpshooter' ODST Battle Dress Uniform; SRS99C-S2 AM Sniper Rifle; M7S Caseless Submachine Gun; combat knife; two frag grenades; two flashbang grenades. Natalie also keeps a smaller knife in a hidden compartment in her cybernetic leg, in case she is captured and needs some means of escape without her usual weaponry.

Biography: Born in France in 2520, Natalie was raised by her mother while her father, Second Lieutenant Jean-Paul Paladin, continued to serve in the UNSC Marine Corps. In her teenage years, she made plans to follow in her father's footsteps, and enlisted as soon as she was able. In basic training, Natalie was like any other: she turned out to be a competent, skilled, and obedient soldier. Some said that she was officer material like her father, and often pushed her a little bit harder than the others in case she was found slacking. Natalie soon came to display aptitude with sniper rifles, and was entrusted with one of the special weapons in her squad. This choice of weapon earned her the nickname "Longsword", due to her being able to pick off Covenant troops from great distances.

Her military career underwent a drastic change at the age of twenty-three. Natalie, then a Private First Class and due for another promotion, was part of a company that was dispatched to extract civilians from a colony, in the hope of saving them from a Covenant invasion force. The Covenant arrived sooner than expected, however. In the ensuing fight, Natalie found herself up close to Covenant for the first time as opposed to fighting from a distance with her sniping skills.

The gold-armoured Elites that were part of the primary strike force were hacking their way through defenceless civilians, using their strange energy-based weapons. Though Natalie put one of them down herself, another thought to avenge its comrade by hacking off part of her leg. When she fell, she desperately tried to pull out her sidearm, but the Elite severed the arm that fumbled with the gun. In complete shock and agony, Natalie thought she was about to die... but her comrades rescued her, cutting down the golden Elite and carrying her onto their Pelican.

The Elite's sword had cauterised the wounds it had inflicted, making treatment a little easier. When Natalie was approached by her superiors, they had claimed that she would have received a promotion to Lance Corporal had she not been wounded so badly. However, her father, who had also elected to visit her, had called in about half a dozen favours and used a year's pay to obtain cybernetic replacements for his daughter: she could continue her service as a Marine, rather than be discharged with nothing but a Purple Heart, missing body parts and bad memories. Natalie accepted this offer, not wishing to let her father down while she could still serve.

On the day she received her bionic arm and leg, she swore to strive to be worthy of them, to continue fighting in the Marine Corps as long as she was able. It took the better part of another year before she became fully accustomed to the mechanical limbs and learned to use them as she would her organic limbs. She put herself through vigorous training regimens and exercise routines while she got used to her cybernetics.

Life as a rank-and-file soldier became less satisfying for Natalie, even after she served for another full year. She wanted a greater challenge, something to prove her worth beyond anything she had already experienced. So in the year 2545 she took her trusty sniper rifle and registered to become an Orbital Drop Shock Trooper. After being accepted, she received her 'Sharpshooter' Battle Dress Uniform, a submachine gun sidearm, and instruction in the use of the SOEIV, which Natalie quickly understood and accepted. She was transferred to an ODST squad soon after and began to fight in a way she had never done before: feet first.

After two years with the ODSTs, during which time she served with three different squads on over a dozen missions, Natalie received another transfer order, this time to a ship by the name of Divine Intervention.

Notes: Natalie has added a couple of personal touches to her sniper rifle, the most obvious one of which is an inscription: a work in progress, it currently resembles a pair of crossed roses etched into the stock. Natalie uses her smaller knife to work on this inscription when she has free time, being exceedingly careful not to disfigure it.

Natalie speaks with a noticeable French accent, and slips into the language occasionally; either in the heat of the moment or when she can't think of the right words to use.

I have a few people who are still writing sheets, so I'm waiting for them to arrive before I move forward. Patience is appreciated.

Alright, can't wait for it to start.

Halo RP sounds like a lot of damn fun.

i'm somewhat intrigued by this idea. i don't have any experience with forum RP though, so forgive me if i make too many mistakes. any pointers are appreciated.

Name: Bernard 'Snowman' Snow
Sex: male
Age: 32

Appearance: Bernard Snow is best described as stout for an ODST: standing at around 5?4, and weighing 180 lbs of solid muscle. His stature is hardened by his dark blue eyes with light brown hair he keeps just under regulation length. He also keeps a short beard, which the brass only tolerate due to his years of service in the corps. Snowman wears a light grey BDU, with white patterned urban digital camo trim and a red cross on his helmet and left pauldron. His armour is the basic ODST outfit, the only significant modifications being extra pouches strapped to his torso, bicep and thigh plates, in addition to the standard issue backpack.

Personality: Snowman has learned after 14 years in the navy that your fellow soldiers walk a razor?s edge between life and death, and every respite they get is to be treasured. Having seen some of the worst that battle has to offer, he remains quick to laugh, and always tries to encourage a strong bond between teammates, to teach them to appreciate every moment of peace they might experience. Despite his optimistic attitude in downtime, whilst on mission Snowman is always calm and collected, and not easily shaken, a valuable talent for a combat medic.

Rank: Navy corpsman, petty officer 3rd class (corporal)
Role: Rifleman, medic.
Equipment: MA5 AR, M6C SOCOM, combat knife, 3x smoke grenades, 2x signal flares, full first aid kit (in rucksack) Plus additional medical equipment, standard and non-standard issue.

Bio: Snowman began his career in the navy at age 17, joining the hospital corps. He spent 5 years in medical training on the UNSC Magellan before requesting transfer to an active marine unit as a field medic when he finished his qualifications. During his crash course through boot camp, he showed exceptional skill in his firearms training, earning marksmen recognitions, but continued pursuing a combat medical path. During his service with the 77th marine Regiment, he witnessed the brutal efficiency of the ODST?s firsthand when a unit was dropped to support his unit after falling behind during a fighting retreat. Impressed by their skill and tenacity even in the face of impossible odds, and their willingness to help their fellow marines, Snow decided to become one of the best. At age 25, he opted to be embedded into an ODST unit, and after much testing, Bernard was assigned to an ODST unit as the squad medical specialist. Technically not part of the marine corps., Snowman is actually a Petty officer 3rd class in the navy, and is embedded into an ODST unit. While this made his initial team anxious, as he didn?t go through quite the same rigorous training and hardship the others had, he proved to them his value by saving many of their lives during hard combat drops. He has earned a grudging respect among the ODST, and after 7 years hard fighting against the covenant, there are few who would deny his status as a hardened marine.

thats the character i came up with, tried doing something unique with the concept, though i'm willing to change it around a bit should that be necessary.

Hell, why not. Lets see if this will work.

Name:Amy "Storm" Lenghart
Sex: Female
Age: 30
Rank: Lance Corporal
Role:Assault/Suppression

Appearance: Amy tends to favor her close quarters HellJumper armor. Standing at 5'10", with short black hair, Amy is by no means a remarkable look. Combat hasn't particularly given her many scars to speak of, though a few burns from plamsa rifle shots from doing her job too well do mark her as somewhat of a veteran of the war, coming back each time not willing to let previous failings slow her down. Her armor doesn't possess any particular markings or personal touches, finding that when she is thrown in the thick of it armor needs to be replaced, meaning personal touches are lost.

Personality: At times almost overeager to jump into a room and let the enemies taste her tactics and bullets. At times, her objective isn't even to kill, but to simply make sure the enemy realizes that standing up isn't an option as long as she is in the room. This makes her somewhat reluctant to simply leave teammates or objectives behind when there is a chance, but by no means makes her needlessly reckless. Also worth noting is her absolute willingness to grab any weapon on hand, be it human or not, to get the job done. Known at times to pick up a covenant Plasma Rifle till it begins to overheat, to toss it down to begin using another weapon.

Off the battlefield, she is probably a bit too feisty for her own good. She isn't afraid to glare right back at any commanding officer, or soldier. She is by no means cruel, just unwilling to ultimately back down from her position. Any ground given is done so grudgingly, and perhaps considered an accomplishment in itself.

Equipment:MA5B Assault Rifle is Amy's weapon of primary choice, equipped with a flashlight attachment and sound suppressor (should the situation call for a more quiet approach). Her sidearm being the standard M6C/SOCOM with the Silencer at all times. Also tends to carry three of frag grenades, and a pair of Combat Knives.

Biography:Amy started out like any other ordinary Marine. Going through most usual rounds, she found herself not only well suited being placed in a room with a lot of Covenant, but also thrived as she would fire off rifle shots through the room, catching any targets who dared to peek out with a hail of gunfire. Even when running low on ammo she continued her terror, showing an Elite that even with just her pistol she wasn't going to simply let him run up to her.

After joining up with the ODST units after doing some stint in Direct Actions unit, Amy has been brought back several times after some military actions, often being placed in situations where she was set to open up on any Covenant moving through key locations, often with odds stacked against her and her ammo count. Having been injured several times, Amy is no stranger to the dangers of her assignments and choice of tactics, but this also meant that she was very good at what she did. Suppressing units with whatever was at hand, and killing any who dared think she was simply firing. Her record of returning despite taking some fire, and willingness to step into a room and take any and all attention for others to get their job done, or to buy time, marks he as someone who is used to being under a lot of fire, and needing to move when she has finally attracted a bit too much attention.

After four years of consistent fighting with the ODST, she took on callsign "Storm" known for sweeping through the room like a tsunami. She bears such a name also cruelly, knowing that her task is one to place more bullets into enemies than anything else.

someone else has the callsign 'reaper'. dunno if you have to change it or not, personally i see no reason that there wouldn't be multiple marines around with similar nicknames, but it bears reviewing. things could get confusing with two reapers.

Name: Jason "Hawkeye" Stevens

Sex: M

Age: 27

Appearance: Wears dark green, grey and brown camo pattern standard helljumper armor. He weighs 176 pounds and stands 5'11" outside of it, and 6'1 with it on. He has steel gray eyes, and dark brown, almost black hair. He has the ODST logo tattoo'd across his back.

Personality: He is fiercly loyal to his squadmates, willing to put himself into harms way if it means that his team will make it home alive. He usually volunteers to take point, mainly because he has an exceptional knack for spotting ambushes, often early enough to surprise those who set it up. Due to the Covenant destroying his home planet of Harvest, Jason has a complete distrust of anything Covenant, and often has a hard time restraining himself when he comes into contact with them.

Rank: Lance Corporal

Role: Advance recon/scout

Equipment: BR55 battle rifle, M6C SOCOM pistol, 2 frag grenades and 2 incendiary grenades. He also carries a combat knife with a 8 inch, partially serrated blade, which he uses when he absolutely needs to down an enemy silently.

Bio: Born on Harvest in February of 2520, he had an early wake up call to the threat that the Covenant truly posed to the human race. He and his family were some of the first ones off Harvest when it was glassed in 2525. They fled to Madrigal, again being forced to evacuate when it was glassed 3 years later. His parents were killed before their shuttle could take off, but they sent him with his uncle and cousin, who made it onto an earlier shuttle. He made it to the rubble, and lived with them there until 2535, stealing what he needed when he couldn't afford to buy it. When the UNSC Midsummer Night was captured by the Insurrectionists, he was impressed by the ship.

He saw combat shortly thereafter, when the Covenant attacked the rubble. Stevens was awed by the bravery (some would call insanity) that the ODSTs showed during the battle of Metisette, and promised himself that he would one day join their ranks. He was evacuated to the Exodus habitat, and stayed just long enough on Falaknuma to reach the minimum age to join the UNSC

As soon as he turned 16, he joined up. He was quick to learn the basic firearms skills, and quickly climbed the charts for the kill house times. He impressed his trainers with his almost inhuman ability to remain undetected on the battlefield. He volunteered to become a Helljumper, and it didn't take long for his superiors to realize that he had the makings of a good one.

He has fought the Covenant multiple times, most notably in the battle of Psi Serpentis, in 2543. As it was mostly a naval battle, Jason had only a minor roll.

Notes: Personally believes that Admiral Cole survived the battle of Psi Serpentis, claiming that "It'll take more than a supernova to stop that man."

Expanded the bio a lot, noticed it was rather lacking.

Name: Myles ?Big Bang? Almightyvoice

Sex: Male

Age: 28

Appearance: Myles wears a close combat variation of armor with a few minor changes. A holder on his back has been installed to hold a Lotus anti-tank mine. A slot for his combat knife has been placed below the second chest plate and another slot for his multi-tool has been placed above the top plate. The ammo belts around his right leg have been removed. A few of his grenade pouches have been replaced in order to hold C-7 canisters. The armor itself has a solid black base with a smoky white pattern, that makes his armor look like blast area where a bomb just went off.

Myles is five feet six inches tall(five feet eight inches in armor) and weighs one hundred and sixty three pounds. He has a short, narrow, round jaw that contains a set of thin lips and a straight nose. His eyes are slightly slanted up, spaced closely together, and are a dull, dark olive green colour. He keeps his head shaved bald in the places where his hair still grows.

A considerable amount of Myles? body is scarred from fire burns. Part of the left side of his face, stretching from the base of his ear to over top of his right eye, has been severely burned. That burn also stretches from the base along his face, all of the way to the bottom of his left shoulder blade. His entire left forearm is also severely burned. That burn lightly stretches onto the base of his palm and the back of his hand. Scars from shrapnel and a few oddly placed plasma burns litter the rest of his body.

Personality: Myles is a generally quite person who appears to be in his own world. He isn?t a person who makes an effort to start a conversation, but if one is started one with him he is polite enough to attempt to keep it going. When working in his field of choice, Myles talks to himself with a large amount of swearing. This often causes alarm to other people, who think that he?s having a problem or something is about to blow up in his face. Instead it?s just his way to blow off steam and keep his mind going while he focuses at the task in hand.

Rank: Corporal.

Role: Explosive Technician

Equipment: Myles carries the MA5K Carbine as his primary weapon due to its lighter, compact size. His secondary weapon is the standard M6C/SOCOM pistol. He carries a combat knife and a multi-tool for arming or defusing explosives in the field. They are stored in the previously mentioned pouches. On his grenade belt he carries one frag grenade, one two inch by two inch cube of C-12, and two bottles of C-7 foaming explosive. On his back he carries a Lotus anti-tank mine. A spool of tripwire, arming sticks, blasting caps, remote triggers, and anything else needed to make an explosive material detonate are normally located on him at all times in the field.

Bio: Myles was born on the planet Kholo in 2519. He was raised by parents who worked as electrical engineers in the only major city on the planet. He had maintained good grades and was in the process of attending university for electrical engineering when Kholo was attacked. Myles was twenty years old at the time and fled the planet with his parents after the initial attack.

When he became a refugee in another planet he was approached by UNSC recruiters. They were looking for refugees who wanted to get back at the Covenant for what they had done; Myles signed on immediately.

After basic training Myles applied for the explosive technician program. He was accepted based on his previous electrical engineering background and studied and trained till he was the top of his program. In this time he became quite adept at most explosive traps and bomb setups. When he graduated from the program he volunteered for the ODSTs and was accepted in. The rest of his story is the ashes of the battlefields he fought on.

Notes: Although he doesn?t mind being asked about the burn scars, he will likely respond with an intentionally vague response.

I'm just saying this as someone who is also GMing an RP but just because the sheets stop flowing doesn't mean instant starts. The GM needs to post edits to sheets that have potential and also just plain read through all the sheets before announcing who gets into the RP. There's also the matter of typing up an OP and fitting all this into an adult schedule that can include school and/or work. I know it's annoying when it looks like nothing is happening but take it from me, a GM that also works nearly 50 hours a week nights, that these things take a little bit sometimes.

I'd just like to add that there is most likely a chance that not everyone will get in, so perhaps it may be best not to think too far ahead. Even though our GM and I know each other fairly well outside of the Escapist, I still treat this thread as if he might reject my application or ask me to change things to better suit his overall plan.

Just a little extra food for thought.

Suddenly, posts. Hundreds of them.

Anyway, yes. Void is right. I'm currently reading over the sheets and making my choices. I'll notify the people who get in when I'm done, likely later today. I'm also working on the OP for the actual thread, which should be up at the earliest tonight or some time tomorrow. So yes, I've got a decent amount of work ahead of me. Thanks for waiting, guys.
