A little harsh, but I somewhat agree with you there. At first I thought it was nice, I'd say. A nice little subculture enjoying a collective interest. I'm not too terribly interested in the show myself. But at this stage, it feels forced. And I feel like some people are forcing the interest on others.

I've only ever seen pony posts in pony threads and only on occasion in others, usually just an image or meme that fits the subject. While I can't comment on other sites the pony fans here are hardly forcing. And no "give it a try" isn't forcing for the hyper sensitive amongst us. Strapping you down and making you watch the show, now that would be forcing.

When we say "forcing" we mean it in a subconscious way. It's kinda like someone going: "watchtheshowwatchtheshowwatchtheshow" until you snap and watch the show to shut him up.

Anyway, ponies annoy the fuck out of me and it doesn't help that people reply with meme-styled images of the show. It was kinda cute at first but now it's just... bleh! (as with every meme ever! except maybe the various faces, like troll, rage etc)

Yes its true! Now, how to break it to friends outside the Escapist without sounding like a cimplete nutcase....

I got myself up the courage to introduce one of my best female friends to it.

I started with this. It's synch has been done amazingly well, and it got both my friend and myself hooked on the song.

Next was this review. 14 minutes long, and it has annoying ads at the beginning and end, and it loads quite slowly. So it's best to play past the ads, then leave it alone to load for a bit if you have anything but the fastest internet.
But it's really well done, I find, and turned my friend from being dubious about the show, to admitting "... Ok, yea. I can see why you like it. "

I watched the first episode and said "this is the same as Care Bears....and I hated that show too".

Try episode 3+ they are much better

It shouldn't take that long for a show to get good.

Actually, it's more like episodes 3+ are a bit different in tone from the pilot. So you should probably check out one of those instead to get a better idea of what to expect from the show if you're still curious about it.
