yeah, cracked and watched the first episode. Probably one of the best cartoons i've seen (never really liked some of the ones others have said where great, such as invader zim)

but yeah... easily some of the better characters and even has decent music

Please don't ban me, but this obsession here is REALLY grating on my nerves. Why, mostly adult males are obsessed with rainbow and magic ponies from shows for 1 year old babies...well, let's just say, some people may need to get their priorities straight? You're watching this show and these unfunny "parodies" instead of playing Mass Effect, Starcraft, or Elder Scrolls. Portal 2 just came out and you're doing this? No wonder we get laughed at it...this deserves it!

Watching hilarious parodies and 1 new episode of MLP a week prevents me completely from beating Portal 2 in a week then a second time on developer commentary mode like I did... oh wait.

Episodes are only like 20 minutes, and the longest parody like 5 minutes.

How you view people watching MLP appears to be the same as how others view us for playing video games. Maybe you should be less judgemental about stuff you don't know about.

The first two aren't really a good example of what the series is like- Most of the series is like an episode of Friends, while the first two episodes are a shonen action show(But with Ponies instead of androgynous teenagers)

No, if it were like Friends everyone would be insufferably smug. In fact, only Rarity is insufferably smug.

Rainbow's the smug one, I'd say. Rarity's just prissy, but actually quite kind.

RD is cocky, but at least she has a useful life skill (weather engineering). Rarity is a fashionista in a universe where the only item of clothing worn on a regular basis is Applejack's hat.

Just a very quick in and out to avoid being memetically poisoned...

I'm simply going to reiterate my hypothesis that there are multiple clever, subtle, but very powerful subconcious triggers in the show that draw people in like zombies.

Also I have it on good authority that the original 80s series had - like a lot of them did - more than it's fair share of pretty dark moments anyway. There was like some dark lord in a tower who'd kidnap them and it all got a bit Stephen King or something. Maybe the new one has that. Maybe they've dropped it. I don't care to find out. So long as it stops invading my internets at some point
