"I'm up to it, whatever it is it can't be too hard. "An evil grin grew across his face. "Human or monster, it'll stand no chance. Hopefully whatever it is will be more fun then the last thing that met the sharp end of my blade."
Sorry I didn't post recently. Holidays and I can't post from work anymore. They didn't block the site, they just royally screwed our connection outside our intranet. Anyways, I'll try to keep up.
"Oh, hello there." chimed Ken.
Kimiko gave a blank stare at the blond haired man, slightly older than her. His odd choice of mount and poor fashion sense was familiar to her. It prodded the back of her mind like a needle. She knew she had seen him before, and she even knew where from, but she couldn't summon his name from the depths of her memory. She began to think about how she could never remember people's names that easily. Perhaps it had something to do with her difficulty to focus on any one thing. She was always easily distracted, and her mind always seemed to wander at the most awkward of times. Now that she thought about it, that had been the only reason that thief even got as far as he did. The thief had stopped though without her lifting a hand, thanks to the intervention of another Elite Skyguard, and then the thought occurred to her. Her mind had been running laps this whole time, and now she was back where she began, standing in front of a familiar man without a name to call him.
An awkward silence rested on their ears for nearly a minute. Aside from the occasional cringing facial expression from deep thought, she maintained the same blank stare. Finally, after mentally deciding to forgo the embarrassment of asking his name, she gave herself an affirmative nod and replied.
"You're one of the newbies, aren't you?" she asked as she though "Good, that'll make him think you remembered him." "Thank you for the help rookie, but it was not needed." she said in an attempt to cover for her own carelessness. "I assure you, no one can out-run my blade. I was merely giving him a head start. I might as well test my skill if I'm going to be engaging someone, and it would've been too easy had I attacked him as early as you did. Only a true rookie would attack as soon as you did." "Okay, that didn't really make sense, but that should at least work well enough to not make him think I'm some airhead."
Ken felt a touch awkward with Kimiko staring at him. He wondered if he should break the silence or dismount, but he didn't want to be disrespectful. His parents had brought him up to be respectful to women as well as guards, and she was both.
When she finally spoke it was, of course, to point out his inexperience. Ken was well aware that he was the newest of the Elite Skyguards, a fact that the others constantly reminded him off; as well as the fact that he was the only 'commoner', neither child or student of some noble or master of magic.
Still, despite the fact that he'd barely seen this Skyguard she clearly knew of him at least. Quite impressive in Ken's mind. It somewhat softened the criticism that it was clearly coming from a much more experienced individual though she looked about the same age. Ken wondered for a moment what her story was.
"Umm... Sorry, I guess I wasn't thinking like it was a fight." Ken responded clearly rebuked. Ken was also genuinely a little embarrassed by the mistake; he was quite conscious of the fact that he lacked a lot in formal training or experience, relying mostly on his sharp instincts and natural fortitude for both fighting and magic. His roughness tended to stand out painfully against the slick and sleek methods of the Elite Skyguards.
Ken dismounted cleanly from the Pegasus that had relaxed quite a bit since the departure of the thief. He rubbed it's nose affectionately for a moment before walking over and stooping to pick up Kimiko's bag from where it had been dropped.
"Perhaps you could show me a few tricks tomorrow during the practice?" He said sounding a bit more hopeful and friendly as he offered the bag back. "Er... I don't think I ever got your name." He finished with the hint of a question.
"My name?" Kimiko was surprised he didn't know. Not that she had a big ego, but she did tend to stand out among her peers, particularily in her choice of summons and fashion. "Do I introduce myself casually, or should I be formal. I am his superior technically. Then again, most of my wing mates greeted me by first name."
She made her decision but with breif delay. "Yes, umm...I'm Kimiko. Oh, I think I forgot to thank you for finding my bag. So umm...thank you. It's not the best I've made, but it's cute."
"Stop babbling. You're talking too much. Just stay focused."
She grabbed her bag from his hands keeping mental note not to go too slow or too fast. She did not want to give the wrong impression. "Thank you. Uh, the new recruits will be shadowing the junior recruits tomorrow on our combat drills. I don't know if they'll have you guys fighting as well, but you'll at least tag along. I might be able to help you some, but it depends on who we get paired with."
"Ah, Kimiko?" Ken replied. "Well it's a pleasure to formally meet you at last." Ken handed over the bag and returned to the Pegasus that still stood by. He patted it in thanks as the summoning ended and the creature faded away.
He turned back with a friendly smile on his face. "You made that?" He was surprised by the bag. "It's quite nice you know. You have quite a bit of talent."
"Well if that's the case with the drills then I'll look forward to seeing you there." He smiled again and gave a quick salute. "But I think I'll take my leave now, with your permission of course."
The man with Luke grinned. "That's good. I expect to see results from you."
The boy shook his head, frightened. "N-No sir! I-I wasn't stealing! I-I was looking for someone strong!" Then he looked Marmut over again and calmed down a bit. "A-Actually, you look strong, mister. Could you help us?"
The man in the cloak from the day before was there at the gate, like he said he would be, wearing the same cloak. He approached Sylvin and spoke in a craggly, dry voice, like he was dying of thirst. "Did you bring it?"
As Lupus walked, another sound could be heard, coming from somewhere close. It was like a low roar, reptilian almost. Not a good sign to people travelling around Kiska.
"You will..." Luke began walking off. A few minutes later he was along a road when he saw an armoured man traveling towards him on an armoured horse. When he was close enough Luke jumped above the horse and kicked the man off, forcing him off the horse. Luke walked over to him and stomped on his helmet with enough force to crush it inwards, killing him. He got on the horse and turned it around, continuing to travel to his destination.
Get a flight, find a caravan, use a location Teleport spell. You can probably get yourself down to a closer town with a location Teleport, provided you're a class that uses buffs. They're the only ones that have those. Other than that, I don't really have any suggestions.
For a Golden Zulfigar sword? I'd say just at about 2-3 million. One cyte is about the value of a dollar, just think of it like that, if you know the conversion or use the Dollar.
