Escapists, i am disappointed in you

How the h*ll do we get to page 9 of a thread on the greatest guy ever and have no one at all mention Richard Feynman?
Seriously, everyone obsessing over Newton, Einstein, Napoleon, and Jesus, is everyone afraid that if they don't win this thread they have no worth as a human being?

Quit giving cookie cutter answers, post someone who hasn't been mentioned yet,
Heck, it only takes 2 minutes to search each page with ctrl+f for someone's name

Oh, yeah, i pick Richard Feynman, seriously, he is what every scientist and engineer should be
Einstein was a philandering pr*ck, Newton was a jealous paranoid a**wipe, Da Vinci was a loon, Jesus is over powered, and Napoleon was a jealous paranoid a**wipe.

No joke, i just summed up most of their personalities, you can check yourself if you doubt me

Lots of people saying Jesus.
Jesus? You know that most people here are atheist, right?
Even if you are atheist he is still one of the most important people in history. Whether he actually existed or not is completely up to debate but in a different topic all together but without Jesus we would not have Christianity and we would not have one of the worst spawns of the USA the WBC.

Perhaps I've already been ninja'd to the argument, but I'll restate it anyway, can we all just calm down about Jesus and Hitler.

I understand why Jesus on the list on "The most important person of all time" but I don't understand why to a lot of people state him as unequivocally the single most important person of all time. History will state that Jesus was, religiously inclined or not, a real person. His teachings were revolutionary, but that isn't to say that they were the MOST revolutionary of all time. They are still used today, true, and he is one of the most iconic figures of western civilization.

But there lies the argument, he is one of the most iconic figures of WESTERN civilization. True, the teachings of Jesus are practiced and worshiped more or less the world over, but some modern day civilizations have not even heard of Jesus, and more still have outright rejected him as a historical figure the same way that many of us write off other religions, stories, and characters.

And Hitler? Really? This one I don't really understand, yes, Hitler is famous for his radical beliefs and his history changing actions, but overall, Hitler was just the most recent to do what has been done dozens of times. There have been plenty of tyranical rulers that convinced their people to support genocide. I understand the Harry Potter quote: "He did many great things. Terrible! Yes...but great." up to a point, but MANY people throughout history have done "great and terrible things."

Define "great"

The one who contributed most to the concept of human society? Emperor Qin Shi Huang of China. While the idea of a ruler who takes control of his people by force and derives his authority from none other than himself may sound unrelated to the structure of most modern states, the idea of a Nation, a group of people as a collective, did not exist before Qin.

The one who contributed most to human knowledge? Charles Darwin. The principles of Darwin's theory define modern biology, epidemiology, and even seemingly unrelated areas such as computer science.

The one who contributed most to human history? Mohamed. Islam changed the world alot. Europe reestablished connection with the eastern world due to the crusades, (for a time at least) the Islamic empires were among the first states in the world that allowed women to hold property, and just think how different our world would be (for better or worse) without Islam in it.

Then you really should rather say Emperor Konstantin, the man who spread Christianity in the Roman empire.
Without him, Christianity would never have become so widespread as it is today.

OT:
I'm gonna go with Harald Hårfagre, the man who united Norway to one kingdom.

Alexander the Great is a pretty cool guy, eh spreaded Hellenism and doesn't afraid of anything.

But in all seriousness, yes, that guy.

Greatest? I don't really know who is the "greatest" human of all time is. I don't even think you could possibly pick one. I'm gonna go with the first man. Way to get the human race going by making little human babies!

Most influential? Jesus. He is the sole reason for Christianity, which has greatly affected the entire world. Take Jesus out of the equation and the world would look quite differently. And this is merely going on the fact that he inadvertantly created Christianity. I'm not considering him the "Son of God" or anything like that.

I'll also put something up I added in another thread about the greatest person ever.

Perhaps it's just some dude who happened to do something at just the right time and set off a series of events that eventually culminated in the greatest advance in human history. But we don't know who he is, what he did, or what he caused.

I've done a quick scan and I'm seeing a lot of people saying Tesla or Da vinci. If you're going to pick a scientist it really has to be Isaac Newton. He had far greater impact on science then ether of these two. Specially Da vinci who was a good painter and had a good mechanical mind but discovered very little that made any impact on the world.
