Like unloading a double barrel into my skull. The ending was satisfactory. I don't really see what else could be added to the story.

Absolutely no need for a sequel. It was a good movie on its own merits, no need to muck it up with a follow-up even if Arthur was pretty bad ass.

Well for one thing it won't be as special as the first one since the wow factors are gone unless they an whole new visual effects.

A sequel? Blood hell no.
Well, some kind of "spiritual successor" instead of a direct sequel would be a good idea and could very well end up just as great as Inception if it were pulled off correctly by the director and writers, but I don't think it'll be easy, unless Chris Nolan is involved in it which would mean something very good.

*meh* Can't help thinking that any sequel it would have would be a poorly made re-hash with exactly the same plot structure, because there's no real other way to explore the concept. And it can hardly be introduced again in so mind-blowing a fashion as Ariadne's tinkering.

Well, they'd have to go with a DIFFERENT brain-invader team entirely, otherwise I'd avoid it like the plague.

I was about to come into this thread to rage, but then I read the whole title....

Does that answer your question?

Ok, long version: inception does NOT need a sequel. It ended on a good enough note. If Christopher nolan was involved, I might be cautiously optimistic, because that might mean he had more planned from the get go. But if anyone else was doing it.... No.
Exactly this. I'd pretty much watch anything that had Nolan attached (he's certainly earned it by now) but it definitely doesn't need a sequel, and if anyone else tried to tackle it I'd avoid it like the plague.

If it's a sequel, I don't want the same characters. Their story is done. Keep the concept, but leave out the characters. Oh yeah, Christopher Nolan and the Inception trailer music needs to come back.

Such great possibilities with the idea, controllable dreams and everything... And half of the film consists of generic action scenes.

As apathetic as I was (and still am) about the first one, I suppose.
Your avatar's mouth looks like a bird beak...

OT: Well, as said multiple times before, if Christopher Nolan would be directing it, I would be casually optimistic. Otherwise I would expect a serious crash.

I'd be disappointed. There's nowhere for the story to go. The act of Inception was proven as possible, and the driving force behind the first is dealt with. The monopoly was broken up and Cobb is with his children in reality or has completely embraced the dream and is still with his kids.
If anymore Inception movies were made they would almost certainly fall the way of the Matrix sequels (ie. become mere cash-grab shells of the original).

People often mistake something that is confusing and poorly done for something that is "deep"
Inception was a good premise but not nearly as revolutionary as everyone seems to think it was.

Unless they followed different characters within the same fictional universe I can't see it working at all. Even with that it probably wouldn't be very good. I liked the first one, but it worked well as a standalone film, there's no need to milk it with a sequel.
