It's okay if they're not very closely related, like with cousins it wouldn't be that bad, but the farther the better. But Targaryen style is just disgusting. Even more so with parental incest. *shudder*

But my main problem with it is the increased chance of deformities on the children.
But if there would be two siblings fucking for recreational reasons, I would be creeped out by it, but I wouldn't really call it wrong, either.

I have to say no. Not for medical reasons just because the idea repulses me and i am a generally live and let live kinda guy i.e what ever you get up to on your own time is your business once you are not hurting anyone else.

The thought of it just seems so wrong to me. I am close to my sister but in a family way and no other. We can talk candidly about our love life to each other and everything but only because we love each other like family.

Well, I agree with this to a certain point... if you're adults, do what you want sexually but for crying out loud, don't have kids. A) That kid is going to get genetically screwed because you took it upon yourself to screw your genetics.

I suggest going back and re-reading this thread. In particular my last post as it deals directly with how this is a rather large misconception. Two people who are related and have children will not suddenly give birth to little mutants, or children with genetic disorders solely because they chose to have a child with their sister/brother/cousin/whatever. The risk is increased because if one carries the genes for a specific disorder, the other likely does as well, but people in the general population could get together who both carry the genes for any number of disorders anyway. And even then, it's not a sure thing that the child will have it. Unless you're prepared to force every couple to undergo genetic testing and prevent those who carry genes for disorders from having children (which would be unethical to subject someone to), there is no basis to do the same to family members engaging in an incestuous relationship.

I also dislike this assumption that goes into it as well that having a child with a genetic disorder (and let's be honest here, when people think of incest and genetic disorder, they think mental or physical handicap despite there being plenty of other possibilities) is such a terrible thing that no child should be subjected to. It's basically deciding for the child and for the parents that their child's life could only be terrible and they shouldn't have children. But I don't see people deciding to force genetic testing of fetus' on parents and aborting those who won't be born "normal". If the parents want to take the risk, that's their decision, not ours and certainly not the governments.

Sure. There's absolutely nothing wrong with forcing an arbitrary morality not supported by reason, logic or science on other people. It's just icky and people shouldn't be allowed to do it.

Well, certainly not expecting a good deal of the responses here.

I guess the main problem with incest is the social stigma it carries, and the reputation that it's the "rednecks" who partake in it, thus we "civilised people" ought to know better.

On a physical level, attraction is attraction, it doesn't truly matter if you find your brother/sister/cousins body attractive, it's just your body thinking for you.

On a mental level, I really can't speak for this. This is normally a subject I wouldn't touch with a 10-foot chunk of rebar, but That's today influence of the media, so I'll ignore that just this once.

This is just one of those untouchable subjects, deemed "Evil" by most cultures today, and it carries a heck of a lot of weight to be throwing around in threads like this. I personally ignore stuff like this when it pops up, leave people to their own ideals.
