Has there ever been a point in a game where you pretty much dropped everything you were doing at that moment just to stop and stare?

For me, there have been quite a few moments. For example:

I imagine some of you folk recognise this. It's a shot taken in Oblivion, a game that has aged well aesthetically, on the main road that links Chorrol and Bruma.

I took this screen cap just prior to making this post, but it wasn't the first time I stopped and stared at this same point. In one play through I had a done something that increased the draw distance of the game beyond its standard parameters and the resulting view was amazing... though the fps hit was far too much for me to fully appreciate at the time.

So... fellow escapees and escapettes. Tell us of (or better yet, show us) those special moments in gaming where you saw something so wonderful, you just wanted to frame it.

Note: Topic title is a bit misleading, it doesn't have to be specifically a vista, but any aesthetically pleasing view in game.

EDIT: Nobody posted any pictures of natural Minecraft formations yet. Because of a save file corruption I can't load up any personal images, but I located an awesome Cliff face on a google image search. Just putting forward more ideas.

The Prince of Persia from 2008 is an entire game created around travelling through immensely beautiful vistas.

Adding this one FarCry 2. The game is shit, but the landcapes?

Holy fuck. Almost makes me want to play Toto's "Africa" while just staring at it for a couple of minutes.

The engine for Just Cause 2 (the avalanche engine?) is perfect for landscape screenshots.

I don't have any good ones on my Steam account, but for anyone who owns the game, try flying as high as you can or to the top of a mountain and looking out over the island. It's beautiful.

Some of the areas in Bioshock really made me pause and think "wow, this place must have been really beautiful"

*POSSIBLE GEARS OF WAR 2 SPOILERS AHEAD*
Don't know if it counts but in gears of war 2 when Cole train bayonets a locust, then tags another with a nade, and head shots a locust with his lancer. I was like that's "freaking awesome!"

Quite a few times in Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas. Even just the shiny bumpmapped rocks and stones in F3 were awesome.

Halo Reach has some spectacular skyboxes. Can't find a good resolution example right now though...

To be honest, just about any screenshot from Shadow of the Colossus would count for this (for some reason I always end up mentioning it in threads like these). It's a gorgeous game, even if the graphics are a little dated now.

I don't have any screenshots, but some of the vistas in Guild Wars, especially from up in the mountains, were very pretty.

Alice: Madness Returns had some pretty rocking vistas, especially the one in the beginning looking at the destroyed castle. Or just the entire Cardbridge level.

Lots of areas in Guild Wars, specifically, the areas in the Eye of the North expansion.

Halo takes the cake for me. The following are from Reach.

All are in-game. Not bad for a generic FPS, eh?

Get bigger versions of the screenshots from these [http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?type=topnews&cid=31199] two [http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?type=topnews&cid=31126] news posts. Just scroll down, and click the images to be taken to a place to download them.

I do that all the time! Particularly while playing Just Cause 2 (between blowing random shit up). Just look at any water in that game or climb a mountain and just... look. Gorgeous.
