I want to write my own campaign setting supplement for Dungeons and Dragons.
I already play occasionally, and I DM about half of the time. But I've had this vision of my own universe for awhile, but It's always so far from being complete.

I know what TARDIS stands for even though I have never watched an Episode of Docter Who in my life.

I have also committed a good majority of the Lord of the Rings films to memory, so there's also that.

A friend of mine recently got into pen-and-paper RPGs, such as Dungeons & Dragons. Aparently, somewhere in Wales, they do a sort of 'real-life' version of the game where people dress up as warriors, mages, and the like. They wander around the woods in parties and fight random battles with people dressed as monsters.

He tells me its very expensive to play as a hero character (around £100 each) but those who want to play monsters go for free.

When he told me about this I feigned disgust, but honestly I think it sounds incredibly fun! Like being in a Final Fantasy Game!

Of course, it could all be nonsense....

Seriously play an MMORPG like World of Warcraft. Guilt, mostly, and blinding pangs of trying-to-stay-moderately-normal, are what keep me from playing right now.

Oh and I lack the income to pay the monthly fee, but that's a side-issue.
Never do this, for your own good. You will regret playing an MMO seriously for the rest of your god given life.

Ever since seeing the movie "Role models" I wanted to LARP, two handed broad sword sweeping across a (make believe)battle field smiting my enemies and any one else foolish enough to get in my way.... But being a tradie ( roof tiler ) in Australia doesn't really surround you with the most understanding people :p

Have a massive LAN party at my house. I'd have three FIOS lines to utilize but I cringe to think what my electricity bill would be like that month.

I want to go to a convention cosplaying as the lord of awesome himself, Mat Cauthon. Alas, I don't think I will ever get the opportunity.

Couple o' things;

- Play Warhammer 40k, preferably with an Ork, Tau or Guardsmen army.
- Play D&D. We're trying to get a game going with some guys from a boardgaming club, but we still haven't started.
- LARP, for the lulz of course. A Retribution Paladin or something.
- Create an amazing steampunk costume I've got in my head, and cosplay in it of course.
- For that matter, cosplay as a fuckton of geeky game and movie characters.
- Play NERF wars or that Assassin game.

I doubt I'll ever do any of them. I lack the creativity to make costumes and money for cosplaying and Warhammer. Plus I can't paint for shit, so Warhammer is pretty much out of the question. I probably lack the balls to LARP, and lack the people to play NERF wars with.

I would really like to cosplay at a convention as the Comedian.

That is my lifetime nerd dream.
Oh do please include the grenade launcher and shoot NERF grenades at people.

I want to read comics, but it is a daunting idea. Where the crap would I start?!
Just start with stand-alone stories. I started with books like Superman: Red Son, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Arkham Asylum, John "Hellblazer" Constantine; All His Engines and a couple more.

If you like what you read you could start looking for 'trades' or volumes; collections of weekly/monthly issues of a certain comic. I've bought a Deadpool volume, for example.

wear a cloak.
LARP
attend a convention. in cosplay and not.
actually play a full game of D&D. not one with my family that always turns into a drunken/high stupor that everyone else falls into. im drug free and dont drink, so it always ruins the fun... the TWO times I've played.

my problem is that i always wear black. it scares people and i like that, so i dont want to jeopardize that with some weird thing. the most i do right now is have a mario key chain on my keys. and i hide that.

hmm, i had a geek dream but this would get me in soo much trouble, and may get a few people seriously injured, but i think to anyone who knows the 3 universes involved it would be something to literally laugh your ass of at, or a complete mindfuck.

get tickets to blizzcon, dress up as swtor commandos (with somewhat real armor) with various weapons that are actually paintball guns, (full armor and a minigun for me! and full armor for my friends but not necessarily miniguns). then, as we go around the convention piss some wow fan off and into attacking, hopefully sparking a fight forcing my friends and i to gun down geek hordes as we make for the entrance, and as we near the exit, more friends in (also semi-real) space marine outfits charge in to clear us a path out of the building and are promptly arrested by the police for massive disturbance of the peace and (maybe) assault with a deadly weapon (if they count the armor, because by real i mean it is made of something other than plastic so it CAN take a hit). then we piss ourselves laughing as we are taken to the police station and make damn sure people caught the whole event on camera, so i can say to my grandkids one day "THIS is what being a fanboy TRULY means. sports fans got jack shit on me!"

Edit: to be clear, i love all 3 universes, and all of blizzard's current series besides diablo (haven't played). i just love warhammer 40k and star wars more

I'm currently learning Japanese so I can go live in Japan and get all the good games when they come out and not have to wait for a translation or worry about the western world's obsession with censorship.

Doesn't mean you still can't do it. ^_-
Sailor Bubba comes to mind. There's always one at every convention.

Good place to start is "The Walking Dead." I know people who read it who hate both zombies and comics. Weird, right?

Dunno if it's geeky or another flavour of weird, but I want to found an organisation around entomophagy (insect eating).

Actually, that's exactly what I'm going to do if I find more entomophagists in my country.
