There's an order called the Machete order which is a pretty good way to watch them. It goes: 4 5 2 3 6. This way, the prequels are treated sort of like an extended flashback sequence explaining the revelations at the end of episode 5. It also helps build up tension for episode 6 which neatly wraps up all the story lines of both the original trilogy and the sequels and provides the kind of closure worthy of such a long series.Quazimofo said:Watch em 4,5,6 then 1,2,3. I'm going to be doing it within a week's time, however.
You could add episode 1, and the order would be 4 5 1 2 3 6, but the reason it's taken out in the first place is because almost everything in it is superfluous to the overarching plot, and anything important gets reiterated episodes 2 and 3, anyway so you don't miss out on much.
The guy who suggested this order has a blog post which goes into detail as to why this order works out so well:

OT:
I'll put another one in the bucket for Les Miserables. Every time I hear it referenced, I tell myself I'll check the Wikipedia page later. Never do.
