My last 2 characters were high elves and begun life as mages but quickly became jack of all trades. I had heavy armor and the steed stone, plus sneaking, destruction, one handed and bows.

I got bored and now I am suffering from the worse case of indecision, I'm stuck at the race selection screen.

Along with general opinions on what race/class to be, I wanted to know if playing anything but a Nord will result in the majority of NPCs disrespecting/being rude to you.

Lastly, if I choose an Orc are there many Orc camps to visit, and will I be let in right away or get any special treatment.

Please help I have been on the character creation screen for 2 hours.

I haven't actually played an Orc very far, so I'm not entirely sure about the camps, but I -think- you can go inside them without having to do chores for them.

As for the rudeness, it's not that all-present. My Khajiit characters tend to be treated fairly well in most circumstances. Sure, I imagine they'd be slightly nicer to you if you are a Nord, but it's certainly not a dealbreaker.

it makes very little difference. Basically, every now and again someone will mention your race.

Orcs don't treat you any different if you're an orc. Just every now and again if you ask them about orc things they'll say, "Gee, you must have been away from home a long time to not know this stuff."

Just choose based on which appearance or stat boosts you want.

The choice won't make that much of a difference, either story-wise or gameplay-wise. I'd play a nord at least once if you haven't already, because nord or not-nord has the biggest effect on how NPCs treat you. You do get some unique dialogue as a nord. There are only 4 orc strongholds, and it's easy enough to get into them as a non-orc anyway, so I wouldn't play an orc just for that, although it's a nice little perk if you're going orc anyway.

I hate that so much, I have a bad habit of restarting games several times and playing the intro so many times I ruin it for myself. I would suggest playing a 'pure' class this time. Go for a pure wrecking ball in heavy armor, never sneak like a weakling fighter, or pure assassin/rogue and in both cases never ever use magic. As for your race, just pick your favorite, even if it doesn't make sense thematically.

Or just do this:

I don't really know the names of the races, but when I get Skyrim, I'm going to play as one of the Lizard Dudes.

I don't know how literal Dragon Born is supposed to be, but if my character is indeed supposed to have dragon blood, I want them to at least kinda look related :p
