Gotta love the internetz, completely devoid of empathy :D

Don't know what these guys were doing in their previous life but it seems all the gods of fate have come down on them to stop this game from being made.
Maybe the end of days really will be a zombie apocalypse and they don't want us to prepare :p

Having spent the last few days reading the Project Zomboid forums (fantastic game btw) I can safely say that their 'community' is even more irritating and bile filled than Minecraft's is. I utterly sympathise with the developers for getting angry about the shit they're receiving off people.

I really hope they can bounce back from this. The game had such huge potential.

You haven't seen the reddit thread have you?

And the thing is, they did have back-ups, and the update was almost done, they just forgot :(
Granted the Reddit posts are caustic, but it appears the developers haven't exactly maintained perfect composure themselves:
(assuming this screencap is legit, of course)
I don't care if you're some small scale indie developer, you need to maintain a professional demeanor.
can't really blame them for feeling like that, really. losing their computers, all the work they had done, and then their fans attacking them.. it would make anyone pissed.
but yeah, it is still bad to let that feeling actively show

This is my constant nightmare. I am backing up my code in multiple paranoid ways. In my dropbox, on my server, on my USB key, in a friends computer...
Hearing that this happened to someone breaks my heart. And makes me even more paranoid. Going to back up my code again...

It's so easy to say "You need to maintain professional demeanor" but if you where in the same place and people just hate you for getting robbed. Like it was totally intentional and something you had planned on. You would break down too and you would reply back in the same way.

Everyone has their limit.

I'd side with the developer on this all the way. If his fans are so bloody ungrateful and so cold hearted that they don't even care and just want to flame him some more they deserve no patch for the game.

Holy shit those Reddit people are utter assholes.

Seriously? People are calling him "whiny and unprofessional", he just had his house broken into and a whole load of stuff stolen. Of course he's a wreck right now. And rather than people offering him support (like, say, normal people), everyone's attacking him for it, because it means an update for a game they like will be delayed. They need to learn the world does not revolve around them, and also acquire some empathy.

No wonder that guy's breaking down on Twitter. Entitled asshats won't leave him be.

Well, that's the reason why people invented portable hard drives.

Then again : too bad. That sort of crime is not only thievery but vandalism. :|

They broke computing rule number one. Save regularly and back it up externally and in multiple places. It seems to be most people are upset that they made such a rookie mistake, and before you say it, indie != rookie.

It's an unfortunate thing they were robbed and that the robbery cost them what I'm assuming was months, possibly years, worth of work. They lapsed and had a moment of stupidity and it bit them in the ass hard. If any good is to come of it, it's that from now on they will always remember to back up their stuff properly. It's a hard lesson to swallow, my heart goes out to the poor guys.

unprofessional? so what, we have professional "just got burglarized" people? what kind of degree do you need for it?

come on people, grow up ffs! you complain about game developers being inhuman and devoid of emotions, and when they show emotions - you call them unprofessional! and calling them immature is just plain stupid. its just like at certain age you hit the "im fine with people breaking into my house" stage. NOBODY is fine after bs like that.

and dont act like someone breaking into your house is some kind of regular thing. its completly normal to assume that "those things wont happen to me", because frankly, odds are thats true.

They did mess up badly, but I really cannot blame him for his twitter rampage...

He was drunk, got home to find out that his personal belongings and more or less a huge chunk of his project was taken from him, and on top of that, the internet is having a go at him.

Seriously, that a terrible combination of events to be in...

He should have just turned off his mobile after calling the police or something. Honestly I have never had my house broken into (and hope it stays that way), but I do feel really bad when I get something stolen from me, imagine that while you're drunk and the world is seemingly hating you.

Damn, I was kinda looking forward to this update as the game's not half bad.
Too bad the fan base is the worst I've ever seen.
Seriously rude people over there, and I'm talking about before the update.
Ah well, I hope they bounce back

Wow.
Reddit are cunts.

Anyway, shame about this. Game looked interesting, just sort of glad I didn't get it now.

I want to buy more copies now. Or that limited fan-boy edition. They had their home broken into and their personal belongings stolen from them, and people are shitting on them?
