I recently saw a Let's play of Indigo Prophecy and I have played Heavy Rain about half way through, but I know the ending and what not, so I was wondering which game do you find more appealing?

Heavy Rain by far. It's far more immersive, and the plot doesn't go absolutely bonkers in the last 4th of the game like indigo prophecy did.

This sums up my opinion perfectly. I like Indigo Prophecy and all but the ending just ruined the experience. I like that Heavy Rain stuck to a more believable story, felt more real that way.

I liked Indigo Prophecy until about the halfway mark of the game, but I was completely spellbound by Heavy Rain. The story was so damned immersive, and there were some moments in that game where I was literally ripped apart by indecision due to some of the choices that had to be made.

I did like Indigo Prophecy, but I think Heavy Rain is more interesting and more intense. At least that game didn't go bat shit crazy towards the end.

Heavy Rain has the best QTE's i've seen, an immersive story , both unlike Indigo, which had the stupidest fucking QTE ever and a story that shat itself halfway through.

Indigo Prophecy has a better start and more memorable moments. Overall, though, Heavy Rain's amuch better game and story.

Just to clarify, both are very good, in my opinion.

Huh. Actually, I really like them both.

Indigo Prophecy - Best first five minutes in a game EVER. Also, the crazy plot itself didn't bother me nearly as much as the fact that everything gets so explained away. The end of the game just wasn't as interesting as it could have been with more mystery. Also, the military base sections can suck a rusty tail-pipe.

Heavy Rain - Did not like happy-shiny-doomed life at the beginning. It was a fine tutorial, I suppose, but it went on far too long at the damn mall. It did not make me care about the character - it made me think the entire family was idiotic. The game was supposed to make me care, and it utterly failed to do so - it made me actively dislike that family. I was glad when tragedy struck.
The REST of the game was really good, although I'm miffed that it's always the same killer. I beat it once through, and a second time from a mid-point save file, and I haven't played it since because I already know who did it. I made my choices... I just don't feel the need to make different, crappier choices for some trophies.

What I'd love to see is some sort of hybrid of the two. No supernatural crap, just a really cool crime sim where you play as an insane serial killer and the cops trying to bring said killer to justice. Basically, take the intro from Indigo Prophesy, and make that the entire game, with the flow and good QTEs from Heavy Rain. That would be a game to get excited about.

Edit: Actually, the insanity in Indigo Prophesy would have been better if it was just in the main character's head, and not really happening. I could see a game about a serial killer who THINKS he's being manipulated by a etherial conspiracy, but is just insane and murdering people.

Oh, I also liked the female cop character in Indigo Prophesy better than "Mulder on Smack" from Heavy Rain.

Mhmm. Exactly. That said, they did have plans for the plot of Heavy Rain to involve a "Psychic Link" between the killer and one of the central characters, which would have gone thusly:

Ethan's blackouts and waking up in strange places with origami figures, etc, were originally supposed to be caused by a psychic link that formed between him and Shelby when Ethan got hit by the car in the beginning of the game. This was why he believed he was the Origami Killer; he had been having visions every time Scott abducted or killed a child. If I'm not mistaken, he may even have become possessed by Scott's long dead brother who wanted Ethan to stop his killing spree.

Needless to say, that batshit insane turn in an otherwise very grounded and realistic game (magic future sunglasses and crazy drill-wielding serial killers notwithstanding) would have utterly ruined the game. I have never been more glad that something was cut out and scrapped from a plot.

Well, if they would have integrated the visions into the plot of the game from the beginning, and set it up properly, it wouldn't have been a problem. however i do like that the chose to omit that part.

Indigo Prophecy, though neither game really sits at a high point.

Indigo Prophecy had a strong start, had an alright dramatic build, and then got off the train at Crazy Town and decided that's where it wanted to raise a family. The game feels like there was an entire act that got taken out, and with that assumption in mind, it actually does an alright job in its build up to insanity. I can kind of forgive that, even as I want to poke fun at it.

Heavy Rain on the other hand... erg. Where to start. It's definitely more pretty than its predecessor, but when you peel away the eye candy and look at it from both a story telling and a gameplay perspective then the shine falls off the rose quite quickly. You could easily fill *ahem* several hundred pages of thread about Heavy Rain's faults, ranging from a certain character lying in his own internal monologue, Maddison only existing as a character to be fap material and rape-bait, to what David Cage laughably thinks a MacGuffin is, etc ... but I don't think that would be necessary.

Also, David Cage is a creepy man with a urination fetish. Just thought that should be out there.

Heavy Rain. Its story at least keeps making sense, and does not go batshit insane halfway through.
Fahrenheit really suffered from its original inception as a planned episodic title: when funding fell through and they had to release it in one batch, just about the entire middle part was cut so the story makes no sense at all any longer and many things are never explained or followed up on (example: the book seller, one of the unlockables is an entire fight scene with this guy. It would have tied into the two organisations fighting over the Indigo Child but nothing remains in the final game).

David Cage needs an editor with common sense. He apparently can't keep from adding insane mythology to his stories... Heavy Rain might have been another trainwreck if he had actually included the weird 'Psychic Link' between Ethan and the killer.

STOP CALLING IT INDIGO PROPHECY
Its such a horrible name for such a good game. It sounds like a wannabe anime.
The game is really called farenheit and it was AWESOME.
Man the fights in that game were almost as good as the ones in matrix.

HR is set well within the realms of reality. Not to mention it is one of the most emotionally involving video games since....ever.
