Industrial music, hard rock, metal...

My music tastes lie in the likes of Marilyn Manson, KoRn, System of a Down, Slipknot, Rob Zombie, Manowar and others along these lines, but when i mention this to my friends they all recoil in pain at the mention of such music. They complain it hurts their ears and they are incapable of listening to this type of music without suffering spontaneous combustion of the eardrums. I can't stand the boy/girl bands their so called music, singing about boyfriends and whatnot. In my opinion Scuzz is now the only decent music channel remaining.

Are there any fellow moshers within the ranks of the escapist or am i alone in the world?

Yes there are, and the uK ones agree scuzz is all we have left. Luckily, IT'S FREE!

I don't care what other people listen to as long as it brings them happiness. Yes I would rather the pop music of today die in a horrible fire and everybody convert to exactly what I listen to but hey, that aint gonna happen.

I have an unusual taste in music.. My favourite bands are The Mars Volta, Dillinger Escape Plan and Blink 182, so basically Mathore/Punk-Rock/Metal. I don't have any friends who are really into the first two and i usually get abuse for not liking that indie shite.

Sorry, only band I like amongst the ones you mentioned are Manowar. But I'm a metalhead. Mostly heavy, power and thrash metal, though I do enjoy good black metal sometimes.

Bands I like are Metallica (pre-'91, Death Magnetic was ok), Nocturnal Rites, Avantasia, Jorn Lande, Slayer, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Manowar, Lost Horizon, Edguy, Kamelot, Children of Bodom, Immortal, Blind Guardian.. Yeah, the list goes on, but you get the general idea.

And I must say, I quite enjoy the general taste of music here on the forums. Seems like most of the people here like either classical rock or metal. ;D

Nine Inch Nails, Lostprophets, Nickelback, Pendulum, Daft Punk, Depeche Mode, Coheed & Cambria, Does it offend you yeah?, Rise Against, Unwritten Law, No Doubt, K's Choice, Faithless, Rage Against The Machine, Foo Fighters, Muse, The Killers, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Placebo...

That's just a few I can think of right now.

Anyway I'm not disagreeing with OP a lot of people are very unaccepting of people who listen to music that's 'different', but I'm not too much of a mosher except when I'm with friends and am really in the mood

Marilyn Manson is industrial/alternative rock. And i was just listing my favorite bands as examples. I like nine inch nails, the prodigy, and.. and.. RAMMSTEIN! who could be considered industrial but yeah your right Rammstein is more along the lines of rock.

So basicaly bands like Throbbing Gristle, SPK, Laibach etc. I do like Rammstien (but Turmion Kaitilot do the same sort of thing better, you should check them out) but it just annoys me when people call them industrial.

Quote from Industrial records from where the genre gets its name. Basically it can be anything that doesn't conform to traditional music standards. Which can be a lot of bands, But i would include Marilyn Manson as one of the main ones.

I prefer metal to all else, something that I can mosh to, but I'll listen to anything as long as it has a good sound to it, unless it's rap, or that pop garbage. They all need to die in a fire. Lately I've been listening to a lot of Dream Theater, Children of Bodom, Turmion Katilot, and Static X.

i dont get why people choose music JUST cos most ppl dont like it :S its just as bad as liking music cos every1 else enjoys it.
i myself like tha metal nd so on and id like rap, R&B and dance to go die quietly in a hole

no,you miss the point.i dont listen to metal JUST because it doesnt appeal to popular folk.but one of the defining factors of metal IS being different,so im just saying if your average joe soap loved Testament and had slayer carved on his chest....it wouldn't be as appealing to you and i
