Can't say I'm surprised. Never quite got what the fuss was all about anyway. PC gamers are getting the same deal as the console games...so they go ape shit. PC gamers are the smallest demographic they're putting this game towards, why would infinity ward want to put in the extra effort? It sold well regardless.
Say Microsoft announced a game, hyped it to hell, and made you want to buy it due to the cliffhanger ending of the previous instalment. Now imagine they say they're going to release it for Wii.

All fine and dandy, till they say you'll need to deal with shitty graphics. You'll be compelled to pay more in order to buy a motion controller for your Xbox. You'll need to deal with the awful controls, flash-game level graphics, extra cost.

But no, you can't complain. After all, they're only making the game the same for everyone, and the Wii holds a much bigger market share than any of the mainstream platforms combined, why should your opinion matter? You're a minority. Asking for features like gamepad compatability and half-decent graphics (Which have been standard forever on your platform) is completely unreasonable, stop complaining, you stuck-up, elitist pigs. Just because you spend more than us on your consoles you think you're entitled.

----

Now can you see why we're pissed off? Even just a little bit?

I still haven't bought it, pirated it, or even actually PLAYED it!!! How good am I???

And i WON'T be going anywhere NEAR that thing until I see some fucking customer service. Activision can't expect me to just shut up and buy the game just because they're fucking rich and popular. I hate that game and the new 'market' of gamers it has spawned (chavs, the lot of them).

No, the first MW was pretty good, but the hype surrounding this one is just OTT. All that shit missing from the game (which isn't me complaining for lack of new content, it's content that's been in EVERY PC GAME SINCE THE MILLENNIUM) means that a purchase, or even a play, just isn't worth it.

Fuck you Activision. I will have nothing more to do with you. Now let me go back to waiting for MechWarrior 5...

I've bought it, played it and enjoyed every minute of the multiplayer. It's amazing how much negative hype exists for this game when I've yet to experience any of these woe's online.

I only hope MW3 has a much longer single player. That is my one and only problem with the current release.

Though I may be a PC gamer, I've played the Xbox version and it may be one of the best games I've ever played on Xbox. That said, you can see why I, or any others in my situation, would want to buy it for the PC.

Though having control of the servers and being able to modify certain aspects of the game is always great, but it could be such a great game that it wouldn't matter.

I know that the control over the servers is what PC gaming has going for them. And to some extent, that's true. BUT..I think we take advantage of that.

You'd think from all the whinining about how terrible this game is I wouldn't have enjoyed the multiplayer. Weird.

The day I stop hearing any news about MW2 will be a grand day indeed. I can at least take solace in the fact that their 'tremendous' success was not in any way my doing - hell will freeze over before they see any of my money for a criminally short single-player game with crippled multi-player that insultingly listed 'mouse support' as a bloody added feature.

It would be so refreshing to see someone from Infinity Ward come right out and say that the nonsensical feature cuts were just to sell the PC gamers content that isn't worth the money - PC gamers don't buy your silly map packs or zombie mods because they don't need to, the mod community churns out tons of maps and mods exactly like that for free. The only reason you can get away with charging for that shite on the consoles is that they literally have no alternatives - it's paying for DLC or nothing there, thanks to mod support's nonexistence in the console market.

If you thought lackluster sales of DLC on the PC platform were a problem, maybe you should have made more compelling DLC that we might have judged worthy of forking out some money for, rather than crippling your game so that it doesn't matter which platform you play it on, you have no options for additional content save what they deign to produce as DLC.

Nah, way too sensible a solution. Cutting long-standing platform specific features it is!

I'm sorry, but how is this news? It's just another MW2 update that everyone already knew about, and frankly, no one cares about any more. Just gives forum users a new opportunity to either gush or rant. Probably more of the latter.

Personally, I'm betting in 2-3 years time we'll be hearing about how extensively pirated Modern Warfare 2 was.

Excellent. Now you mind actually making it better with all that money you made?
This may occur should hell freeze over. And the PC version isn't so much bad as very unreliable.

Er, no, we're not. We're getting the same system as the console gamers over "IWnet" instead of XBox Live or PSN. As such, its really unreliable, because IW aren't specialised in network providing, nor do they have an experienced department who are.

Haven't bought it, will not buy it unless they recant, which they most probably won't.

Soon, MW3 with no mouse support. The game is not balanced for it, you know?.
Ha, thats assuming they even bother releasing it on PC at all. "All them there pirates, ya' know?"

Well the numbers don't lie, guess MW 2 relaly did prevail no matter what. And is that really a problem? If the PC owners who bought the game were satisfied and enjoying the game then there is no problem no why should anyone be grouchy about this?

Infinity Ward Claims MW2 on PC a "Tremendous" Success

Despite an outraged community and a petition that garnered over 225,000 signatures, Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling says the PC version of Modern Warfare 2 [http://modernwarfare2.infinityward.com/] has been a "tremendous" success for the studio.

Between the uproar over the lack of dedicated servers that spawned a quarter-million-signature online petition, a boycott by many digital distributors over the game's use of Steam DRM and the fact that the Steam version itself, despite preloading in advance of the game's launch, wouldn't actually unlock until two days after the retail version hit the shelves, you might think that sales of the PC version of Modern Warfare 2 would be badly hobbled. According to Robert Bowling, the community guy at Infinity Ward [http://www.infinityward.com/], however, you should think again.

"Yes, PC is the smallest percentage in terms of how much sold on each platform but that hardly means anything other than the PC is just the smallest market," he wrote on Infinity Ward's Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare [http://www.infinityward.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=183344&sid=697007b2d48be9a853606c0c8e605827&start=20] in it's first week. Making it the most successful PC version."

"Essentially, all this percentage proves is that the console versions sold great, not that the PC version sold poorly, because that's actually not the case," he continued. "The PC version has done tremendous in it's first week, better than our previous game."

He doesn't quote actual unit sales in the message but with overall sales of Modern Warfare 2 estimated to be somewhere in the multi-bazillion range, it's safe to say that the PC version, despite being far and away a tiny percentage of overall sales, still adds up to an awful lot. Many followup posts in the thread criticized Bowling's comments, saying that while massive levels of hype may have pushed up unit sales the PC's shrunken slice of the pie is proof that Infinity Ward has treated the platform badly; most sales charts don't account for digital game sales, however, so it's possible the percentage could be higher than Bowling quoted.

Everything that came out of Robert Bowling mouth the last couple of months has been bullshit and i have absolutely doubt that this is just as much horsecock as everything else he squawks about his "awesome" infinity tard net.

...I am ashamed of my fellow PC gamers.

I mean, if they enjoy the game, then fair enough, but personally; I am NOT paying the full price for what is essentially half a PC game. As this probably should suggest, I will get it eventually, but not right now.

Plus, clearly a lot of those 225,000 people were lying, and I can't stand that.

Okay, that might be a case of "Arson Murder And Jaywalking" on my part but... still.

Funny thing is, they still can have everything that they wanted - there was a hack put out in the first week that enables dedicated servers and the dev console.

Still not going to purchase it, but that's more lack of interest really.
