"Humankind!" the Lady 3rd said, as though addressing someone by name. "Humankind, you prefer the absence of pain to its presence. When my own kind attained to technology, we eliminated the causes of suffering among ourselves. Bodily pain, embarrassment, and romantic conflicts are no longer permitted to exist. Humankind, you prefer the presence of pleasure to its absence. We have devoted ourselves to the intensity of pleasure, of sex and childbirth and untranslatable 2. Humankind, you prefer truth to lies. By our nature we do not communicate statements disbelieved, as you do with humor, modesty, and fiction; we have even learned to refrain from withholding information, though we possess that capability. Humankind, you prefer peace to violence. Our society is without crime and without war. Through symmetric sharing and untranslatable 4, we share our joys and are pleasured together. Our name for ourselves is not expressible in your language. But to you, humankind, we now name ourselves after the highest values we share: we are the Maximum Fun-Fun Ultra Super Happy People."

I like these guys [http://lesswrong.com/lw/y4/three_worlds_collide_08/], and their enemies the Baby-Eaters are a close second. Unlike nearly all fictional aliens, these guys are truly alien, with a fundamentally different biology from humans.

Guess.

Seriously, take a guess.

Okay, done guessing?

THE SANGHEILI!! The mighty and proud reptilian warriors of the Covenant, noble, valiant and fiercely determined warriors that reek of awesomeness to even the highest points of heaven. May their names be praised, and the greatest of all is of course Thel Vadam, the Arbiter from Halo 2 and 3.
Pictures speak louder than words so with that in mind:

Obey his might.

Gee, I wonder...
What does that mean? There's been a lot of variety so far.

Someone else has already said prawns (I just saw District 9 last night, so I'm still trying to re-gather my blown mind off of the furniture), so I have to go with...

Hey, isn't it strange that the two aliens I've listed here are named after some kind of seafood? I also like Dr. Zoidberg, who is a lobster...

I personally like the alien from Alien. You know, the movie. Everything about it is badass. That is until they messed them up with the newer movies and games. I mean, some parts were good, but nothing beats movies 1 and 2. Think "classic" alien, and there you go.

Hmm, either Liara T'soni or Grunt. Liara because she's an asari that doesn't understand humour and Grunt because.. Well, he's a god-damned krogan that goes rampage! Oh, and is very quick to defend his friends' honour :D

Genestealers, all the way!

Damn you Space Hulk, I never did beat you....
Do you play as them in the tabletop?
Nah, I haven't collected Warhammer miniatures in years, and even when I did I was always more interested in creating dioramas than actually playing tabletop.

Even though it's been said several times already, The Doctor. Timelord.

And here's a picture of him I found mildly amusing:

Many have been mentioned so I'll pick something different and go with the Locust from the Gears of War series. (takes place on a different planet so it counts)

Got to love an alien race that equip it's giant mutant dinosaurs/spiders with armor and rockets.
