My personal cure for insomnia is being really tired.

But kindof like other people said, if I sit around all day not doing anything, I'll find it really hard to go to bed. If I exercise, socialise, work and other things in a day, I find it pretty easy to fall asleep.

There are other things like don't go to bed if you are not tired, so in your mind you associate being in bed with tiredness. If you stay awake in bed for hours, in your mind you associate being in bed with not being able to sleep.

I've never been as sleep deprived as you are, but when I go stretches without being able to get to sleep I find getting into a ritual helps. I'd suggest waiting until the point where you're finally about to drift off (so don't even try to sleep until then) and then do something you can repeat daily without becoming tedious.

My example is anime. Spent a week or so of less then 2 hours of sleep per night, although I did get a few hours on occasion during the day. Eventually tracked down a sequel anime to one I'd already seen and watched an episode when I'd reached the point where I was struggling to stay focussed. Still didn't manage to sleep much, but it was a start. Did this another few days in a row, and I guess my body got into the habit, because things started to sync back up.

Watch a really boring movie (I.E.: Whiteout, Alexander, A.I.), just make sure that it isn't a movie that is "so horrible, it's good" movie like Trolls 2 and Dragon Wars.

Bonus points: Watch those boring movies while trying to "choke the chicken". You will be so worn out, you'll pass out.

How determined are you to get rid of your insomnia?

If you're dedicated, DO NOT go to bed at your normal time. Wait until one or two in the morning to go to bed.

This will hopefully set back your biological clock.

Besides that, I don't have any other advice besides having a wank.
Ok... now that's a sure-fire way to GET Insomnia by upsetting your sleep-cycle.
Pretty soon you'll be going to sleep at 5 A.M.

And why does everyone keep suggesting Masturbation? All that does is raise your blood-pressure, hormone-levels and generally make you More alert.

Sex. Really physical sex.

Or a few liters of warm milk, whatever.
Now that's Different! I definitely agree with Both of those suggestions :D

That sounds like some serious sleep deprivation, and the truth is that, especially when serious sleep deprivations is concerned, is that there really aren't a lot of easy answers.

You can try setting a solid sleep schedule (and keeping it no matter what, that means that even if you're not falling asleep you need to stay in bed, and at the set time for you to wake up, you need to get up, no matter how tired you are), exercising (but always more than five hours before you're going to go to bed), eating healthy, all that good stuff. I realize that you said no medicine, but the truth is that some simple OTC medications can actually help immensely. Melatonin is really quite good, it's a chemical that exists naturally in the body (and during the teenage years its production often dips, which is actually the reason why many teenagers have a hard time sleeping), anyways, you take it about thirty minutes before bed, and it just helps you drift off a lot easier. It helped me a lot when I was trying to re-establish a solid sleep schedule when I was getting clean and going through withdrawals. You don't want to use it forever, but, like I said, it helps a lot to establish the sleep schedule in the first place. It can be picked up for cheap in the vitamins and supplements section of pretty much any grocery store. For nights when you really need to get knocked out, you could try something with diphenhydramine (it is the only active ingredient of both Benadryl and Unisom). You want to be a lot more careful with it though, it's only for really difficult nights, it'll knock you right out... but if you over-use it you build up a tolerance pretty fast, and it can actually be addictive as well.

If none of that works, then you should probably go see a doctor because you might have a serious sleep disorder, and none of the advice you're going to get here will help.

wear socks to bed helps you get to sleep sooner by keeping your extremities warm, that and well I used to get insomnia because I was usually stewing over something I hadn't completed or something I left unresolved, so just make sure you resolve you sh*t before you go to sleep.

...you wanna know what I've actually found to be very effective?
Go find yourself some episodes of Joy of Painting with Bob Ross and watch them end to end.
They're not boring, but the way he talks is just...so...I don't know how to put it, since I always seem to end up asleep because of it.

well the sleeper hold isn't technically painful. You are asking for a LOT when you should be seeing a doctor. Other than medication, getting knocked out, or seeing a doctor, my only recommendation is this:
