Well, up until recently, I used to get pretty bad insomnia. I have no idea why it stopped.
same thing during last summer.

I have a something like insomnia. I can't fall asleep until about 1 in the morning, regardless of how tired I am. Once I fall asleep, though, I won't wake up until I have something to do. An example is that I can get out of bed, walk across the room without waking my roommate, turn off my alarm, check the time, go back to bed, all without actually waking up. However, if I have class soon, I immediately wake up, I just don't remeber getting out of bed or anything.
I can hold full-fledged conversations in my sleep without knowing it.

Funny, I think I might also have a form of sleep phase disorder, but I only discovered that diagnosis recently. I cannot for the life of me fall asleep before 4am, and usually, it's later. If I try to adjust it, I end up sick for a few days until I end up right back going to sleep at 6am. Recently I discovered I can correct this condition with alcohol.

There's probably a catch there, though...

Whenever I'm sleeping over at a girlfriends house, or the other way around... neither of us get much sleep, either. That's wierd ;)

It tends to come and go with me. Right now I'm in a phase where I'm going to sleep at 5 or 6 and waking up at 9 so it sucks at the minute. It usually comes about when I'm stressed or have unresolved issues playing on my mind, but I can't think of anything that could be causing it this time. Hopefully I'll get back to a regular pattern soon.

My worst cases have been before exams. I took three seperate exams in uni without having slept the night before. The really odd thing is that I aced all three of them, so perhaps insomnia is not without its benefits.

See, that's what i mean. I really think it's possible to catch insomnia from someone most especially if that someone is very close to you or who is very influencing.

I always get plenty of sleep. I'm a deep sleeper too, so it takes quite a bit to wake me. I once had a tent collapse on top of me without me noticing.

I've had insomnia since it could be detected (about 5 I believe) anyway it's a very very strong insomnia example as KneeLord said i've tried Melatonin and that hasn't worked and my doctor put me on some sleeping aid that when my idiot brother, because he couldn't sleep, took one he was out for a full day before we woke him to the point he could function but he still was dead tired for two more days, and that makes me mad i take one i'm still up to at least three man i envy those who can sleep

I've had pretty bad insomnia my whole life. But mine is a bit...odd, in that it comes and goes in waves. Each month there's a cycle, for the first week I don't have much trouble getting to sleep, the second week It's quite a bit harder, but a few Nyquil will do the trick. The third week I won't be able to sleep at all (This never lasts the full 7 days, longest I ever went without sleep was six, at which point I overdosed on sleep meds so I could pass out because after 6 days it becomes dangerous.) The last week of the month I have slight trouble sleeping.

And my sleep cycle is off track because when I finally do pass out from the week of no sleep. It's at a random time like 2 PM or something, so I wake up at midnight and start my day.

I had insomnia really bad last year after my friend died. Had it for about a month, went to see my GP.

The nice doctor gave me Tamazepam. I didn't take it.

Funnily enough, I see things when seriously sleep deprived. Take the three-days-without style of thing. Shadows in peripheral vision. Lights. Movement. Shapes and colours really out of the ordinary. People around me always look different after that long.
Yep I get this too. I can't/should't drive on friday afternoons specifically because of this. It used to happen three days in, then four, then five and now seven so I guess I'm just getting used to it.

When I was living with people they wouldn't come near me on friday's for fear (and memory of the time) that I would throw some hard objects at them to keep the 'monsters' at bay.

Go team sleepless :(

I'll be honest. Now that I'm on Melatonin (when I remember to take it. Cough) and my sleep is fixing up, I genuinely miss those early hours of a morning when it was just me, my thoughs, and whatever delusions I was having at the time. Not to mention I got a shit load more done in terms of art, schoolwork or whatever. Nothing sends me to sleep like consumer arithmetic.
