Does anyone else here think everyone is moving toward social games?

The core game community? Maybe when pigs fly and Half-Life 3 comes out. The general populace; can we really call it a "move to social gaming" if that's all they've ever played?

I don't have Facebook. I don't WANT Facebook... But I love the Ratchet and Clank series, and if I have to have one to play the next few titles?

While I love Plants vs Zombies, all my gaming purchases have been for ?complex? games. There will always be a market for complex titles, as long as there is a audience willing to pay for them.

Facebook is against my programming. Acknowledgment of Facebook will result in "Genocide" parameters initiating.

In all seriousness, the only reason video games seem hard today is because most of them are made for people who already play video games regularly.

Yeah, everything is moving to social media, motion controls are the future, digital distribution will completely eliminate brick-and-mortar, all MMOs must earn more customers than WoW or they're failures, there is no Japanese game industry, ghosts are real and the world will end in 2012.

Sounded to me like they are only creating a small group within the larger that will focus on creating facebook games. Didn't seem like they are abandoning complex or console games all together.

Facebook games make me angry. I don't know why, they just seem fundamentally wrong on some level. And with people telling me that they're "the future of gaming" left right and centre, it makes me want to put my head through my desk.

There's nothing wrong with PC Gaming, Console gaming, or Handheld gaming as it is. Why are we trying to push gaming as a collective in new directions when the one it's going in is perfectly fine? I like my Xbox. I like my DSi. When I get the 3DS, I'll like that too. And I like my admittedly-scarce PC collection. I do not want to play on Facebook[footnote]I don't even want to use it, but that's a different story[/footnote], and I can't see myself ever getting excited at the prospect of doing so.

Gentleman, it's been an honor to play alongside you all.
But now I'm afraid it's time to break out those violins.

Geez, more social games...what a fuckin' treat...sigh

Honestly screw people that have too short of an attention span or are just not bright enough learn how to play a real game. Give me more real games or give me a new hobbie!

EDIT: Man that short bread looks tasty!

Pretty much, yes, everyone is moving toward social games. Never before has a genre so cheap to produce had such a colossal return margin. Social games are cheap, so more devs are going to be making them.

I don't like the idea, but I can't stop the signal.
