Actually if we're going to be technically correct about it, it's not "piracy" but rather "unauthorised use" which has a slightly different set of issues surrounding it, but it's still pretty funny and still relevant to SOPA.
Point taken, but non-commercial piracy is simply unauthorized use, which is what those ads were speaking out against. A pirate didn't pay for permission to experience the product, so it's unauthorized.
Nah... non-commercial 'piracy' for personal use is still 'unauthorised reproduction'

Unauthorised use only happens when you have licenced a work for a specific use and then gone and used it for another as well...

I just want to say that...

... Has been the desktop picture on both the laptop I've owned.

I remember when that little clip used to be on every DVD and it was unskippable. There's another one though that's better though. I'll see if I can't find it.
Used to have the same one for a while :p

BonsaiK, aren't you actually an employee of the music industry? I seem to remember you being really anti-piracy in every debate that came up on it. In other words, the fact that you're against this shows just how bad it really is. Something really needs to be done about all of these blatant attacks on consumer rights.

I think I really will steal a handbag.
Seeing as you're originally from Adelaide's north, should we take the car stealing as a given?
Not only that, I used to drive a Commodore VH. Damn right I could get into that thing without a key.

I'm very anti-piracy. I'm also anti-SOPA though. I don't think it's the right solution.

I also loved the fact that the MPAA got caught downloading various torrents, then claimed that IP-based evidence wasn't strong enough, and that it could have been someone else using their servers. The hypocrisy is mind-blowing.
Wait... couldn't it have been? I mean, if that argument works for others accused of the same thing, why would you immediately dismiss it because its a side you don't support? Still hypocritical, but we don't know for sure if they did pirate.....
Yeah sure it might not have been, especially if their IPs were dynamically assigned. But if it ever came to court-proceedings and they used their argument, their entire business model would go out of the window (I really hope someone prosecutes this).

and they even made a sequel!
Just like the Godfather II, no-one thought it could get any better yet it did.

I don't know if this applicable in all countries. It's certainly ok to torrent for personal use in Sweden, and I think a few other European countries. The problem is when piracy happens internationally and legal clusterfucks occur that should never happen.

Commodores have keys? Never knew that, I thought people just hopped in the most conveniently located one...
