I was recently playing a internet based game (Linked Here [http://www.forumwarz.com]) and I asked myself the question: What is the actual definition of 'Internet Culture'. It has for me, so many meanings and and influences. From the depth of the infamous /b/, to the mainstream videos of YouTube. From lolcats to informational articles, Internet culture is an extremely broad term, covering so many topics.

So, what does internet culture mean to you? When you hear those words, what do you think of? Elaborate to the Escapist!

I've been wondering for some time now and I just can't figure it out.

Internet culture is just a lot of people thinking they're funny when they're not.

IT'S NOT FUNNY ANYMORE. It was funny the first time, but then it stopped being funny.
Seriously, these things annoy me to no end.

For me I guess it's where I 'live' on the net. Lj and 4chan essentially. I can have academic discussions about the feminist issues brought up by media open in one tab and hardcore animated pornography in the other.

And that truly is the essence of the internet.

I have a feeling that true internet culture cannot be defined, except by something like "the melding of minds form everywhere in the world, to create something more than the cultures of those involved. The culture of the internet is unique, in that it is almost entirely built form communication without personal contact, allowing far greater boldness, and therefore far more diverse opinions."

Even that seems somehow unsatisfactory. (Yeah, I can be a perfectionist sometimes)

A part of me want to say the Offended page on Encyclopedia Dramatica. But I like to beileve that we are to over that sort of things.

For me, the internet is like a country. A country with it's own language and culture. So basicly, it's just like any other culture.
