Internet culture is a bizarre world of identity and non-identity. People are drawn to the internet because of the availability of complete anonymousity (trolls, flame wars, /b/), the opportunity to create a new identity (MySpace, LJ, personals), and the opportunity to express their own identity and meet people via shared interests (DeviantArt, blogs, forums).

The completely demented combination of all of this results in the internet being created mostly out of cats and porn.

For me the Internet isn't a culture, its a means to fight the system, to level the playing field in a way that hasn't been possible previously.

I'm a hardcore advocate of "information wants to be free" as such I suppose that would be its slogan and part of its mission statement, while the internet is trying to grow up and be credible 99% of it is a huge bulbeous boil of crappy information... a cesspit where a Car Salesman from Canada with a subscription to New Scientist can become a prolific Wiki editor adding his own style to the articles.

This hideous spot is a marvelous thing, we get to pretend we are something we are not, we get to feel good about our contributions to the internet such as vids on youtube or threads on the escapist.

Low Self Esteem?, come to the internet, we will judge you, be harsh and criticize the person your pretending to be. Have fun.

To put this succinctly: everything (and everyone) about the internet that you love, but also everything (and everyone) about the internet that you despise.

People have always had disagreements over what the actual term 'culture' means. Generally speaking though, it pertains to anything that you can immediately envisage which is core or unique to the subject you're talking about. You would not consider part of the internet's culture to be the Wembley Stadium, Eiffel Tower or really big cars and Communism, but you might consider it to include things like Tack Jhompson, Forum Trollz, memes, or any website (and any weirdo that made it) anywhere really.

If you truly do not know what /b/ is be thankfull that you have not been touched by the taint.

You sure you want to know? If I tell you, and you go there. Nothing will ever be the same. Nothing
I've done some research on urbandictionary.com, and I know enough now. I shall keep my distance from /b/ and all things /b/-related, in order to keep my sanity. I thank you both for your warnings. You've practically saved my life.

The internet culture is rotten to the core

Boom de yada, boom de yadda, boom de yadda, boom de yadda.

In other words, the internet culture to me is whatever I decide to focus on that particular day, from memes to youtube to whatever.
