Internet justice to the rescue? Anonymous as modern vigilantes?

I would have to say, on the topic of Anonymous being a modern day vigilante, that this is not a correct view. Originally anon went around making trouble and the like but this view was distorted and somewhat destroyed when the Co$ incident happened.

For those complaining about ED, well all I can say is:
Welcome to the Internet: the information super highway
That website, Encyclopedia Dramatica, is known for being the goto for all news about the dark side of the internet. So it is pretty much a wiki dedicated to the chans.

Anonymous... You do not mess with anonymous. Right now, they are simply busy with Scientology, and even still they are doing it for the lulz. Remember that. They are in no way a vigilante group. Those that realize this, shall have the wrath of Anon not come down on them quite as hard. Look at some of our... past works. Like that hotel game. Fun.

Anonymous provide me with endless entertainment. As most internet humour originates from /b/ or has passed through there, in much the same way as digested food must pass through the lower intestines to become shit, /b/ and all the Anonymous antics are like the digestive system of the internet, consuming pop culture, cults, memes, etc, and shitting out pure humour, in its lowest, most base form.

... what?
Heehee, I smell a moralfag.

The real Anon doesn't give a rats behind about Scientology anymore. As soon as it hit the news, they realized that it wasn't gonna be fun anymore. Hence the term "moralfag" came into being.

Anonymous is nothing but the world's largest trolling organization.

Like the world's self-appointed grownups don't hate 4chan and /b/ (if they even know about them) enough already. I know in this case the /b/tards stood up and brought down the freak like an angry Old West posse, but if anyone in the so-called mainstream media finds out about this, are they going to emphasize how /b/tards used their evil skills to do good, or are they just going to use this to remind us all that the Internet is evil and should be bought, monitored and used with permission of Disney?

And as far as 4chan and /b/ itself is concerned, I love the crazy frontier mentality on display over there. It reminds us all how new and wild the Internet still is. But I only look at their stuff as mirrored through other sites. I tried to post there once and they burned me. Not bad, but enough that I vowed to stand and watch but never get involved.

Shootouts at corrals are fun to watch, but I guess I'm nowhere near awesome enough at the Internets to take a gun and get involved.

Sorry, but I reported this thread. Don't fucking link to that page. It spammed my desktop with thousands of horrible pictures (bleeding dead babies etc.) once after clicking some random link.
Your fault for clicking that random link.

That's like saying you reported a perfectly safe for work page just because you decided to click the add says "Get a bigger penis today!" and got some pretty nasty images.

The guy did say not safe for work. Entirely your fault.
No, the link was part of the content, and it wasn't "kawaii". And there is a differenence between NSFW (which in most cases means sweet and innocent tits) and getting shitloads of pictures that will haunt your dreams without knowing it, so not my fucking fault.
You quoted me as saying something Richard said here because I originaly accidently broke the quotes in my post then fixed them.

well i'm glad that its that kid being fucked over and not some innocent person who just happened to do something vaguely amusing - I saw that video just now and I hated the guy within seconds of that fucking bastard starting to assault that poor cat.
That child must have absolutely no empathy whatsoever (future psychopath anyone?)

You dunce, I was being ironic.
You dunce. It's the internet, I can't tell, and a hideous number of people actually apply it out of context and believe they're right.
