the reasons behind people lieing to other people are pretty obvious (so lets not bother with that)

the big question is, why are our the lies the same? what's so favourable with being young, american and athletic?

i mean where are the smooth talking british people, or the rough irish, or the down to earth aussies. mainly, where are all the things i havn't thought of?

i dont mean to offend anyone but i dont see the appeal of america. oprah is currently in my country and i feel the boost in tourism is going to lower our national IQ.

am i missing something? where is all the creativity when it comes to lieing to people?

I can't say I see a whole lot of people lying about being young, American, and athletic. Are you talking about a dating site or something?

This being the Internet, not sure how you could prove they're not young and athletic, it's not like you met them them in person.

As for being American, well, given our current world reputation, that's sort of a point against you...

And uuhhh, because Americans, despite their spasmodic array of intelligence, are well known as being a very wealthy and powerful country. I mean Australia, for example, has about the same population as Tokyo and New York. Just two cities against a whole continent. And Australia STILL has overpopulation issues. I think it's representative of what the COUNTRY is, not the people. As for athletic and young? It's what all adults strive for in our modern culture. Nothing new here.

I'm with you here. I'm confused about this thread and what this person is trying to say. Then again I'm just a dumb American so it's probably above my head.

Also, seeing as I post with my real name...I think that kind of goes against the whole lying about who I am thing.

how do you know people are lying? A large proportion of the people you'll meet online probably male american teens. Personally I've never met anyone trying to advocate this though. I myself am generally pretty honest about who I am (except incriminating details, ofc)

Anyways, to the lying thing, it really depends on where you look. One of my best male friends plays as females on MMO's to score free stuff from horny teenagers. On chat rooms, people lie to get attention, I used to when I was younger lie about my age and looks all the time. Now, I don't really see a point in it. I like me and don't give two shits about what others think. Besides, if you lie to someone who you plan on meeting, they'll find out eventually and things get awkward from there. *shrugs* People are just dumb, I guess.
