its not realy a female version of said charachter

its just a female stripper dressed up as that charachter, the mario example illustrating this

the real female Mario would be slightly portly) working class Girl, not some hot anime charachter
This.

They have to fit the characters original look, not just wear their clothes.
Agreed. I'm one for boobs, but they are more potrayed as some fan's wet dream rather than the X and Y switch around.

It kind of scares me that I'm not surprised at the blantant fanservice for the male-female characters but the female-male ones are mostly ugly as fuck. Apart from that Bayonetta.

While it's interesting to see what characters would look like as the opposite gender, it's made less interesting by this:

I looked up Rule 63 and all I could find were male characters turned into anime girls with tiny waists, big tits and that same generic face, even Frieza *shudders*. Rather than an interesting collection of fan artwork, it mostly seems to turn into a companion to Rule 34. Creating a hot, female version of your favourite character so you don't have to feel bad about fapping to Mario.

While I think it is interesting to see gender swaps like these, I am not ok with Samus being portrayed as a guy... She is the queen of gaming, and it was a HUGE deal when people realized she was a girl. Making her a guy kind of defeats that in my mind.
Wait, wait, wait... Now you've gone and confused me.. You're against Samus being 'guy-ified' because she's such a strong female character[footnote]Which, in my opinion, The Other M ruined..[/footnote] but you're okay with iconic male characters being girl-ified? That seems kind of..odd to me.
Samus is special because she is THE iconic girl of all gaming. She was the first time that the gender assumption was bent.
I think it would be amusing to see guy form of Samus, but not as cool as any other gender benders. I mean, space marines already exist, and they are mostly guys. Samus is the special one because she is Samus! If you gender bend Marcus Fenix or Mario, it is amusing because they are very strong guy characters, but they aren't THE guy character.

Make sense?

TL;DR version is: Samus is special because she is.
That is a good point there. I agree.

Also, how often to people complain about something that short being too long? I absolutely hate when people comment or reply before reading something in its entirety..

the female Link/Mario/Chief look a bit buxom.
not really how I imagined them.

something like this makes allot more sense then the oversexualized female versions you posted OP.
I also have a small collection of Gundam R63 I got from 4chan,s mech board (/M/)

I always include a "TL;DR version" of an argument that I present that even I find confusing or convoluted. It makes it easier to summarize what I am trying to say for people who don't quite get it, or re-affirms what I say in my long version.

I hate that too though, someone will skip what you have to say and just look for your position so they can argue it.

As for the cheif and samus...let us never mention those again please

Okay, I find the Master chief example to be almost a parody. Mostly of the idea that Heavy Armor on female characters should look like bikinis for some reason. Looking at it like that, it's actually funny. The Mario example is just wrong. Not because she isn't portly, but she just doesn't look like what a female Mario would look. And the male Samus is almost what most people would think when playing the game for the first time.

Though, the female Link isn't half bad. Oddly, despite my being a guy, I'd like her better if her shirt wasn't about to break open. Beyond that, she's a perfect female Link to me.

Can't say I ever think like this, though. Gender swapping isn't something that springs to mind when I look at any character.

Someone made this video before Zero Suit Samus was... canon? I guess canon is the word. Anyway, seemed to fit the nature of the thread.

I was just about to post this same video. Great minds or something.

I don't see why it shouldn't happen. It's more enjoyable than the super-fat versions of characters you'll see on deviant art. Granted the OP's pics above didn't endear me to the female-to-male ones like Samus. Honestly though, it was the female Mario (Maria?) that made me jump on board this fan wagon.

Same with female Link, really.

But...."Female Link is hot as fuck though o_o"

Femme Mario is kinda disturbing.

I think it's fine as long as it's a decent effort. It pisses me off when they make a male character female and just ignore who the character is altogether. That female Mario is a decent example of this. An anime chick in a similar outfit does not the original character's female version make.

anyway THAT thing isnt mario, she doesnt display any charachteristic we would associate with Mario..its just blantant fan-service through and through

I think OP should have found better pictures because I think its confusing what he was actually trying to say

Technially a female Master Chief will still be wearing the same armour seeing how there are female spartans in the Halo universe. It's also for that same reason I don't see why that rule 63 Samus had a somewhat more spiky looking armour (well I can understand that the waist would be wider due to male build are different to female).

While I do think rule 63 of a character is fine as long it's more accurate than a blow out fan service but sometime I do found a rule 63 character abit eye gouging despite being fully accurate (e.g. rule 63 Kamina from Gurren Lagann, I dare not look at a rule 63 Yoko). I'm not sure why I find certain rule 63 character unapealing I guess I have a certain amount of respect toward that character.

True about Mario...can't admit that I dislike fan service though. As for super-fat...

Ahhh... Rule 34 and 63... For the good that comes from them, there is far more vomit inducing, nightmare-ish images than any sane person could ever want to see...
