A subject sort of like shop or tech, but rather than being instructed on what you had to make and how to make it, at the start of the year you decided what to make, what resources it would require and how you were gonna make it, it would get kids really thinking, and maybe it would allow them to prove to themselves their own creativity. But if it could be...any subject...it would probably be zombie survival 101, where not only did you read zombie books like old horror comics and the survival guide, play zombie games like dead rising, resident evil and of course left 4 dead, and watch zombie films like 28 days later, dawn of the dead and dead snow (Just to please the fans) but you also got training in basic melee combat, basic firearms training, barricade building, proper zompocalyptic attire, first aid and of course survival crashcourses in areas like eating food you wouldn't normally eat and sleeping in awkward locations.

The courses I believe should be taught can be pretty much summed up into the following three...

Wasder said:
Metal Studies. Comprising of metal history, metal sub genres and metal practical.

And it would be awesome.
Oh man, I approve. That would be awesome. It would might also get people to realize that metal isn't just screaming and guitars. I just might have to take that course if it ever becomes offered. But that's a course that I would hate if there were actual assignments in. That's a course I'd just want to go there and learn/take notes.

Sword fighting 101

People need to know how to properly fight... with swords.
I concur. That would be extremely epic. Especially if it involved needing a sword, cause then I'd actually have a reason to spend that much money on one.

Environment weapon training - Teaching how to use EVERYTHING as a weapon.
So... That'd be like... Survival class? "How to survive any attack, at any time, anywhere, when you're caught without a weapon." Also extremely useful. Another course I actually wish would be taught. I'd totally take that...

Oh, and one more thing.
Name a band that would be included in Metal Studies that isn't Metallica.
Apocalyptica? Korpiklaani? Umm... Define what you believe is "metal" because it could possibly include Black Sabbath... Metallica is just a well-known band. Too well known for some of the metal snobs. If you wanted me to list bands that you might know, I think that's all of them, because I tend to listen to bands from Finland more than anywhere else.

Mad Science 101. For all of us who are sick of doing shitty and simple chemistry set experiments and want to learn how to create a giant Rat-Gorilla!

Axe fighting - because swords are for pussies and guns even more so.

Lovecraftianism: Learn all about the horrors that lurk beyond time and space that are waiting to drive you insane. Possible summing and cult practice too. Ia! Ia! Shub-Niggurath, the black goat with a thousand young!

A few of mine:

Preparation for zombie apocolypse: learn how to fortify your home and defend youself against a sudden outbreak of zombies, although the skill can be used in any outbreak. in your senior year, you run a group project of fortifying a house and surviving a horde of junkies for a week.

Alchemy: mostly making medicine and poisons from roots and seeds, transmutation of metals and such

Ninja 101: learn the art of stealth and killing silently

Sith: the dark side rocks, learn to become one with it.

Wasn't there a film like this, they made "watching girls in bikini's" class or something.
I would'n't mind that.

Bullet time and how to use it. That'd be one of the awesomest classes. And I know this has already been said, but Alchemy. That class'd be made of pure win.

Sleeping. Take a nice, long nap, and when you wake up, you can discuss it and how to improve on your napping skills.

Common Courtesy 101, 'how not to be a rude person to those you don't know (or do)'.
that,s a parents job not the teachers.
In a perfect world, all parents would do their job.
But nothing is perfect unfortunately.
Besides, this is just a thread full of 'what ifs' so thanks for taking it so seriously!

Comic Appreciation

Study the history of the comic book and how it has influenced/and been influenced by society.

I know this is a course in some colleges but I'd like to see it in high schools.

Applied Ethics, or 'how not to be a tremendous douche'.

Subjects Include:
History of Frivolous Lawsuits and class discussion of why they are bad
Bullying and its Effects
Empathy and the Philosophers who promoted it
i actually have that subject
Really? Wow. Is it interesting at all? What kind of attendance does it get? An optional class, naturally.

I remember when Finland won the Eurovision with those guys dressed up as demons and crap.

They were pretty good.
I want Johnny Logan back, so Ireland can go back to cleaning the place out every year.

Fascism and Nationalistic pride!!! I would start every school day with an assembly in the blazing sun, where everyone gets to salute the flag, re-state there oath of allegiance, and sing as one a series of nationalistic jingoist songs for about half an hour followed by a 1 and a half hour compulsory mass cardio and fitness programme. Actually I'd also make numerous other changes to other subjects, starting with history, by white washing the past to paint a picture of how our culture is the shining beacon to the world of enlightenment and accountability. And unlike any nation never staggered and set a foot wrong but was always using todays moral compass of equality and unity. Recon every one would have the warm fuzzies from that start to the day. No martys, no self flaggelation just everyone knowing they're right and always will be.
