I hate Apple, so I really coldn't care less.

Just another pointless gimmick in the long line of pointless gimmicks released today.

I WANT THAT DAMN THING!!! no idea why...
Somehow I can agree with you... I've been getting this completely irrational niggling thought in the back of my mind saying "you know you want it", despite it basically being a bulkier iPhone...

I think its cause it reminds me of those tablets they always have in Star Trek, but even cooler cause it does loads of stuff :p

Ha, stupid Brits.

Still haven't discovered nano-manufacturing, faster-than-light travel and good dental care.

Get with the times, man.

....And good dental care!?!? Seriously were you do guys get this impression that the Brit's have bad teeth? Why would we have bad teeth anyway? We don't have to pay to visit the dentist! XD

Oooh, maybe it's just because we know how to make proper chocolate? Or know how to make proper food in general really... :p

Tell you what. If you don't give us that nano tech and your faster than light travel and what not, the Queen will not be amused and we will forced to stop exporting actors to you (so you can wave good bye to Dr House, besides we want him back for a Blackadder remake :p) And you will no longer be allowed to watch any more Monty Python.

Edit: This is the Queen when she is not amused

Don't forget the English language, we'll take (what little is left) of that away from them too, they'll have to make their own language which will probably consist of "OMG,GTFO, PWNZORX HAX!" etc etc. Also my teeth are fine, I've no idea where that stereotype is from.

who really cares? Its just a try to step up thing from apple!

Be happy with what you have already, i mean all this stuff that we have, we don't need half of it while some people are forced to go without the basics

Well played Brit... well played. To be fair though, you don't export your actors as much as they just flock here ;0).

Wow, google is doing the exact same thing that hundreds of other technology companies do, too.

I don't get how people are still surprised by staggered technology releases across regions.

So... Its a big iPhone?...
it cant make calls, but yes.

edit: oh yes there was a topic, well didn't amazon already have one such device, a Kindle i think its called, but dont hang me up on it, it seems that apple have made their entire fortune on taking old technology and putting it in a fancy package.

also since we are partly here to mock it, http://www.collegehumor.com/video:1928558 , one of the few CH sketches i actually laughed at ^^

I could really care less what the MaxiPad can do. It's not going to stop me from using a notebook which can do everything it can do minus iPhone Apps while also maintaining high portability, decent power, have USB ports, better connection speed, far more computing power, and multitask. And best of all, I don't have to worry about AT&T raping the money out of my wallet through my ear.

As for liking or disliking it, I'll reserve judgement for now.

I've never understood country-specific licenses and release dates.

Here's an OFFICIAL DoctorNick promise to you all:

If I ever become a media mogul of some sort, regardless of it being movies, games, music, books or whatever, if I'm going to release something in multiple countries it will be available for sale in all of them on THE SAME DAY.

We Australians will love you for this.
Yay!

But really, there's no good reason for this as far as I'm concerned.

So take the example of an obscure band from Japan or something. Would I expect them to put their CD's in physical brick-n-mortar stores here in the States when they don't really even sell that many in their home country to begin with? No, of course not. But the usual course of matter for these things right now is they won't even allow internet sales to other countries either!

Why? WHY? Are they just afraid of, I donnow, making more money or something?
i think its because they pay for the rights to the books by area, the u.s being one and Europe being another etc etc, and if they generally cant turn enough profit in one area because theres not that many people in the "apples consumer group" demographic over here they logically choose not to include a certain money draining feature, sometimes we miss out on cool stuff, this is not one of those times.

It's just something new for them to make money off of since the price of the iPhone has gone down. They'll wait until they have milked the US market dry, then they'll slowly start giving it to other countries, unless they come up with something else by then to shaft all of their current users.

You might spend 250 bucks on books a quarter. you're paying 500 for nothing but something that can store them electronically, though have you done your research? Did you see what price they charge and if they even have the books you need? I hope you thought this thing through.
