Meh... What the hell, the people who would benefit from non-jailbroken iCrap would be EvilCorp. I dunno why it is affecting a few people who bought it. They should even thank them for giving you freedom with your hardware. Rossiya Matu.... Umm... Yea...

I still want an iPod though...

Going by the explaination of jailbreak from the above posters. Explained my reasons in the edit. I probably don't know enough about Apple to get a good idea of the whole situation, but overall I normally see hackers as another term for pirates.
The two are not synonymous.
I know, but that's the first thing I thought of.

What does Jailbroken mean?
it means you've broken it out of jail and can now actually use it.
=D The Apple jail. Otherwise known as the first circle of hell.
9th layer actually. Won it in a suite with satan because of trademark enfringement. (using their apple logo to seduce Eve)
Haha good one.

Yeah, I've always had the feeling apple stuff is just regular stuff in a 'cool' package, and I flatly am not going to pay extra just because it's in white plastic instead of black or beige.

Add that to the fact that white headphones tell every potential mugger that you're probably carrying at least £100 worth of ipod on top of anything else, and that ipods are still seen as 'cool' and that's why I'll stick to a generic player, as I mainly listen to radio shows anyway.

Having said that, surely all Apple are doing is what Sony and MS and every console maker did, make it so they have control of what comes out on their platform? As much as I think apple is overpriced junk for people obsessed with image, I don't think they're any worse than the rest.

I'm glad to hear this. People should be allowed to run whatever they want on their hardware. It's a shame they have to go to such lengths to do so.
This, a thousand times.

And do Apple really make toasters or was that sarcasm?
iToast?

On-topic not too surprised about this. It's just a big iPod/Phone after all.

also out of all the Apple haters how many of you have a valid reason and how many are just jumping on the bandwagon?

Ah, the minute I smell so much as a whiff of bad business practice, that's another company struck off my list of Folks-Who-I-Buy-Stuff-From. My other lists (Folks-Who-I-Don't-Buy-Stuff-From, and Folks-Whose-Stuff-I-Only-Buy-Second-Hand) are pretty long these days.

Can't say I'm surprised it was jailbroken so fast, considering it's so similar to the iPhone...

Actually, the main bandwagon--when it comes to Apple--is driven by its fans.

Wow, I hope they catch those guys. I hate this kind of BS.
You hate being able to choose a service of your choice rather than being forced into whomever gives Apple the most money?
Evidently so. I'm guessing he's been an Applecore all his life.
in other words: so stupid people have to remind in to inhale and exhale?
Yeah. And judging from his subsequent posts, I'm right on the money here.

lol, I see what you did there.

And props to the hackers, the I-Pad is a joke and Apple's got it coming.
Damn straight! *hi5*

Heh, "Applecore," clever.
Ta. I'm hoping it catches on eventually; ending things in "-tard" is so trite...

What's an Applecore?
Someone too dumb to figure it out on his own.

Yeah, I really hate it when companies who can't even be bothered to pay their foreign workers minimum wage get fucked over, too. Such bullshit.
Do you have an iPod/Phone/Toaster? If so, you just supported them.
And what if he doesn't? :V

Adrimor said:
That's great, but if you're stupid enough to buy an iPad, you deserve every last bit of brandlocking Apple tries to force on you.

What BS--letting people run applications without having to ask Steve Jobs for permission? Yeah, that's really heinous.

Going by the explaination of jailbreak from the above posters. Explained my reasons in the edit. I probably don't know enough about Apple to get a good idea of the whole situation, but overall I normally see hackers as another term for pirates.
Since the word "pirate" gets applied to people who have legitimate reasons for making a copy of something they already bought and paid for--in other words, something they own and should be allowed to use as they see fit--you really aren't making your case look any less inane, or yourself any less insipid.

oppp7 said:

Edit: I don't like hackers. They're the type that pirate stuff and make viruses. Yes, they can make some good things, but for the most part it's probably going to be illegal reasons for cracking the code.
WOW, chief.
First of all, there is no such thing as an illegal reason. To outlaw a reason is as laughable as outlawing any other sort of thought, and just as impossible to enforce a law against.

Secondly, all hacking of this type is technically illegal--but just being illegal doesn't automatically make something bad. Have you ever downloaded music? Have you burned a mix CD? Have you ever made a backup copy of anything whatsoever? Well, sunshine, I'm afraid that doing any of these makes you a pirate.

Third, the kind of people who make viruses are not the kind of people who jailbreak electronic devices; virus-making is a destructive art used to , whereas jailbreaking

Of course, I don't expect any of this to even matter to you, given your infantile reasoning; you are clearly the kind of consumer who loves Apple the way a three-year-old loves Mommy--"Mommy is wonderful and Mommy is always right and anyone who does anything Mommy doesn't like is horrible and evil and wrong".

In short: You, sir, are a contemptible and incorrigible idiot. Please find a fire and jump in it as soon as possible.
Lol, wow...
First: No, I'm not a Mac/Apple fan. I've never bought any of their i products. But I do hate hackers(out of fear and anger at them for messing up the game. DO NOT RESPOND TO MY STANCE ON PIRATING VIDEO GAMES. I got sick of that topic a few months ago when Ubisoft released their retarded DRM), my post is a little... one-sided against pirates and hackers.
Second: Yes, some hacking is good, but I'm guessing at least half of all the jailbreaking is going to be used to pirate apps.
Third: I was kind of lumping all hackers together when talking about viruses. No, the ones who hack iPads and such aren't the kind who write viruses, but I'm guessing a good bit of hackers for other things do. I mean, those are the ones who steal accounts and identities, so viruses would be a step back for them.
Forth: This is the Escapist. We do not flame and insult on here. I'd love to know what I said to make you insult my intelligence so fervently.
