I'm hoping that this interpretation isn't too serious. He's not a super serious guy, as that's part of the appeal when he inevitably teams up with Luke. Maybe he'll start off serious and slowly discover the more relaxed aspects of himself as the series goes on. That would actually be a fairly appealing arc.

The director and writers have said that Iron Fist will bring a lighter tone to the Netflix MCU.

Ugh.

I've been lukewarm at best about Marvel's TV efforts thus far, but I am extra special not feeling this one.

Can't take that dude remotely seriously. He looks like a stoner housemate who steals all your food and blames a case of the munchies.

.....Kramer?

Now I just realized Kramer looks like a Drug addict.

The trailer feels a bit too much like Daredevil with a glowy fist. Right down to the hallway fight scene. Sure, those are cool. But do we need every member of the Defenders to have one?

I have no idea how Marvel is funding all these series at once like it barely cost a dime.

Luke Cage just came out.
Well, 1, Marvel/Disney is loaded. 2. These were supposed to be out like, way earlier, and 3, they have been planned for a long time.

Plus I do think these might not be as high budget as people would think. Saw a bag of money in Luke Cage that looked like someone copied and enlarged monopoly money. Iron Fist is the first to actually use special effects for his powers.

Which, as a hunch, could end up being not much more expensive than Luke Cage if they can now get away with using far fewer practical effects to sell how powerful the character is.

heck, that whole rocket launcher scene alone was probably pretty expensive, even with just styrofoam concrete

Once you see Iron fist bust through a wall once or twice, your brain instantly connects glowing fists with "super strong punches". Luke Cage might have required a little more consistent visual reinforcement due to the powers themselves not having any distinct visual maker (though his physique definitely helped with the suspension of disbelief).

I don't remember how well they sold it in Jessica Jones, but I remember thinking it was unimportant, since her powers were treated more as a utility for storytelling rather than a central focus. What I do recall more distinctly was the writing later in the series, which, as has been the case for most of these shows, was a problem.

That's good to hear. Thanks for telling me.

Immortal Iron Fist is literally one of my favourite comic book series ever. This has me pretty hyped.

Visually I'm actually pretty ok with the actor. is his hair goofy? Well yeah, but it could be far worse. Special effects for the fists looks good, and the fact they're not going to ignore Kun Lun is useful. The action will make or break the show. The whole "living weapon" spiel shows that they're going to properly set up the conflict Danny has between his two lives.

My hopes for the story are-

No Davos the steel serpent just yet. To fully appreciate his character you need to know the backstory of Danny's dad.

Orson Randal is introduced is some way. GUN-FU! Alternately having Danny realise "Immortal Iron Fist" relates to the title, and not him they meeting Randall.

Have Danny be a relative rookie at using his actual powers just like the comics. Sure he can punch stuff and is a kung fu master, but after meeting Orson (and receiving his Chi in the most badass way possible) and finding the book of the iron fists he learns how to heal himself, channel energy into objects, hypnotise people and potentially the more cerebral powers.

Finally, make it fun! Have Danny not fully understand New York and have no idea wtf to do when he gets told he owns a company.
