Hello's thar guys (and girls). I've been reading around on these forums for a while, and they seem pretty sophisticated, so I deceided to join. First post I make is also a new topic, but I's something I've always wondered about, and I didn't see any other similar topic. I tried searching, but so far I've never seen a search function on any forum that works properly, so this might have been done before, if so, I apologise, and this thread may be locked (Y)

So, to the point. Do any of you have this weird hate for something that you can't really explain. I'll illustrate with an example of my own. I can't stand Uma Thurman. I really, really despise that woman. She's the only reason I couldn't watch the kill bill movies. Everytime I see a picture of her, I just cringe, and this unexplicable rage boils up within me, haha. Weird, but I guess some of you might harbor similar feelings for something. Post them up here.

And please say something along the lines of "Welcome fellow human being", or something. Would make me feel better ^^

Also, a link (possibly) explaining this term better =)

Welcome to the Escapist. Someone else will surely give you the proper extended greeting.

OT: I hate Tony Abbott. He's an Australian politician, whose slimy grin really boils my blood. I'd put a picture of his face on a punching bag if I had one.

I don't really hate anything irrationally. I've got better control over my thoughts than that...

But there's plenty of things I hate for perfectly rational reasons... Football, the BNP, racism etc...

Oh and welcome to the Escapist, may all your nerdy fantasies be fuffilled...

Wow.... a first post that actually follows the rules of the forums... IMPOSSIBLE!!!!

You are most welcome, I am sure you will be a fine example of how people are supposed to act here.

And I hate many things, in particular tomatoes. Evil, evil tomatoes...

Ehm, that depends on how you look at it. There's a lot of things I 'dislike', though really the only thing that makes me boil in disgust is injustice. If someone's trying really hard to be nice and he gets a snidy "piss off" response, for example. Stuff like that just makes me go mental. Whether that's irrational or not, I'll leave up to you.

I don't have the capacity to hate anything.

I have a friend who absolutely despises Nicholas Cage, though.
I've no idea why, but from what I've picked up, it seems to be "just because".

Greetings, salutations, and welcome into the fold, my fellow sophisticate. I hope you enjoy your experience on The Escapist as much as I have thus far.

As for the topic on hand, if I ever find myself with an irrational hatred, I do my best to analyze it and understand it rather than let it sit. As such, I don't consider any hatred to be irrational, simply waiting for explanation.

Perhaps your example of Uma Thurman can be explained. Does she resemble someone who has wronged you? Or perhaps you find large nasal passages to be ugly?

I hate Sora and his physics-defying hair. I also hate that in any final fantasy game, water has the same density as air because people can run straight through it without being slowed down whatsoever.

I like to call it football, just me being fussy but I don't like changing it's name for one country.

Hello Human Thing!
Aww im sorry. It means your missing out or the new version of 'The Producers'
By the way I thought she was outstanding in that one.

OT; People that multitask while I talk to them. Mostly when I have something important to say. It drives me nutty. Even if I know they are still listening to me or are more then capable of doing two things at once.

I hate people who consider themselves the best thing that's ever happened to the world. Mainly because I'M that thing, goshdarnit!

Badum-tish...

OK, seriously now: I can't really stand people like that. Some of them are actually very successful and have done some really neat stuff, it's just their attitude I hate so much. If you believe their words, they're always right, they have an almost godlike talent for whatever they do, and above all, they have their success to prove that. Example: There's this one writer I'm not gonna mention by name. He's an author of some very good stories and is very popular back home. It's just that when he wrote some books that could be considered mediocre at best, he behaved like a total dick about it. Any criticism of those books was met with suggestions that the critic has no knowledge of literature, that he/she lacks any talent of their own, finally that they are just whiners. Oh, and "look at how well the books sold".
