As some people have said before, they seem to be making a lot of good work seem like simply parroting the original by putting 'BioShock' in the title. If they would have called it 'SystemShock Infinate,' I doubt anyone would have minded. It proabloy would created more hype around the game.

I wonder whether John Marston will make an appearance...

On topic: Brainstorming is a good sign. People should brainstorm more these days.

I still want an explanation on how these people have powers when ADAM wasn't even discovered yet.

I'm only guessing that ADAM and Plasmids are not going to be used, and instead they will come-up with something new. Also I think Bioshock implies the biological modification of the player, like Systemshock dealt with the modification of the player through cybernetic upgrades and such, but I'm very possibly wrong.
That, or they invent ADAM, then everyone who knows about it dies and the ADAM falls into the ocean.
You cant invent ADAM, it was discoverd in sea slugs only found on the bottem of the ocean. There is no way they found it first.

Bioshock Infinite is a stupid sounding name. The game sounds okay, but the name, just, no...

Anyway, it must be hard to abandon an idea you've been thinking about for awhile...

Oh for goodness sake, can't people give Irrational a chance? THEY DID NOT MAKE BIOSHOCK 2, and we barely know anything about the story yet people are already decrying it as "ridiculous" and going around saying "BUT THERE'S NO ADAM YET!" Isn't it possible that they discovered a primitive form of ADAM? Or a completely new type all together? The girl in the trailer has those powers, but apparently the more she uses them the weaker they become and the more strain is put on her. That sounds like a prototype to me.

I kind of like that early 1900s feel. It was a high point for creativity with alot of thinking and inventing taking place right around that time.

Fine, they found it first and lost it to the ocean and everyone who knew about it died.

Again read carefully, ADAM is only found in special sea slugs. These sea slugs can only survive in the deepest parts of the ocean. There is no way they found these slugs unless they first took a trip to the bottem of the ocean. Which is impossible.

Screw it! Forget I said anything.

When I heard about this game, I did some poking around the interwebs to find out more about it and this is what I've gathered. This is in case you didn't already know, since the info is not hard to find.

As far as the name Bioshock: Infinite. The game takes place in 1912, so calling it Bioshock 3 would be confusing since it is most certainly not a sequel. While there is no ADAM or plasmids, you have abilities called Vigors and Nostrums, the former being the equivalent to plasmids and the latter being like the gene tonics. However, they are not related to ADAM. The reason the Bioshock name still sticks, is because if you explained to someone that the game combat mechanic revolved around finding substances (and drinking them this time) that alters your body to give you new abilities, that person would most likely respond "Oh, you mean like in Bioshock."

While Rapture was created in secret by Andrew Ryan, Columbia isn't a secret and was built overtly by the United States for the 1893 World's Fair. What is secret is that the city was actually built to be a giant floating steampunk Death Star, which I think is really fucking cool.

There are no Big Daddies in Infinite. The figurine in the aquarium was most likely simply meant to be an homage to the original games. The thing kicking your ass in the trailer is an enemy called a Handyman.

The game is even less linear than the previous ones. You can actually return to places you've already been via the sky lines. Also Ken Levine has *hinted* that the decisions you make not only affect whether or not people attack you, but also the the way that the city reconfigures itself. If that is true; awesome!

No more silent protagonist. Yay! I don't know about you, but I'm sick of running around as a fucking mute. This is probably done because you have to communicate with Elizabeth quite a bit. I'm also looking forward to DNF, because Duke never shuts up with the one-liners.

The reason the game won't be released until 2012 is because Irrational had to rewrite a sizable chunk of the game engine to accommodate Columbia's floating dynamics.

Well, I'll shut up now but if you haven't watched the 10 minute early gameplay demo, do so. It explains a lot. Levine also *claims* that very little of this is scripted.

Oh wait, one more thing. The original Bioshock will apparently be made into a movie slated for release in 2013. I know that most game to film adaptations suck, but please Hollywood, don't fuck this one up. Think of the children.

While I approve of a game company taking time to plan their games and try to think creatively, I'm a bit boggled this is what they came up with after six months: "Bioshock" in the sky?
In that entire six month period, nobody thought "Hey, we've got this System Shock franchise just lying around, maybe we should do something with that?" X-(
That fact makes me rage a bit as well.

System Shock with current-day graphics... drool.

apart from tacking on that offensively overused blood-on-face health thing, that trailer looks really good. im all for expanding upon the franchise....maybe they should try that with system shock, eh?
