So we've all seen the article

In it Rockstar originally claims that 3.61 is killing the older 60 and 80 GB models. Then they change their story to say L.A. Noire was responsible.
Well, I have never played L.A. Noire and my 60GB died within five minutes of playing Dragon Age 2 after I installed 3.61. Am I to think that Dragon Age 2 killed my console? If DA2 was the new game that came out after 3.61 was released, would Bioware be forced to make a claim that it is causing systems to overheat?
I'm finding similar stories all over the net, older consoles are dying after installing the firmware. For Rockstar to bring it up tells me that something is seriously wrong.
I'm thinking Rockstar made their statement, was contacted by Sony telling them to change their story to saying that L.A. Noire caused the damage.
Obviously the last thing Sony wants is to be directly responsible for the death of many PS3's. That would mean they would have to provide compensation to every console owner that has had his or her unit die.
3.61 was not an optional update.
