Hey gamers,

I want to buy a 3DS XL but I am scared that I won't be playing anything else than Pokémon and a couple more games. I don't know if they're going to release more games for that console or not.

What do you guys think, is it worth it?

Far from it. The 3DS in general is the most-sold handheld so far. Unless 4D comes out, I dont see it dying or being replaced for at least another good 2-3 years, unless they pull out something that matches the PS Vita in terms of hardware.

Dead? Not even close. Provided you like what it has to offer, it's alive and well. I can understand if you're not into some of these, but they are solid titles. It's a great console if you like JRPGs.

Bravely Default
Resident Evil: Revelations
Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D
Shin Megami Tensei 4
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
Pokemon X/Y
Kid Icarus: Uprising
Tales of the Abyss 3D
Shin Megami Tensei - Devil Survivor Overclocked
Shin Megami Tensei Devil Summoner - Soul Hackers
Fire Emblem: Awakening
Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward
Mario & Luigi: Dream Team
Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon
Animal Crossing: New Leaf
Etrian Odyssey 4
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
Mario Kart 7
Star Fox 64 3D
Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies
Paper Mario: Sticker Star
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D
Project X Zone
Harvest Moon 3D: A New Beginning
New Super Mario Bros 2
Super Mario 3D Land

And later this year.

Kirby Triple Deluxe
Smash Bros.
Persona Q

The 3DS still has lots of life in it, go ahead and go for it. Actually now would be a good time to get one since they're probably at a slightly better price point and have built up a nice library.

Avoid the 2DS, the 3DS XL is better.

Thank you for all your answers. I am most definitely interested in what 3DS games have to offer. Actually I like it better than PS Vita or any other handheld console.
However, pardon my crudity here, I'm not swimming in cash. Do you think it's not wise to get a 3DS and not 3DS XL?

The 3DSXL is the better deal IMO, unless you can find a nice bundle with the original 3DS, the XL has some nice improvements over the original, a bigger screen and a better battery. (quick glance at Target.com) The regular is around $170 new, while the XL is $186, to me, it's worth the $16 difference, but ultimately it's your money and you'll be able to play all the games no matter which version you choose.

Depends where you ask. It never really took off in my country to begin with.

Regarding your other question, it would be hypocritical of me to advice against purchasing a 3DS just because it's for playing Pokemon games. I purchased a GameBoy Color back in 2001 just so I could play Pokemon Blue & Gold. Totally worth it. So if you have the money to spare, be my guest.
