I think flamethrowers have got to be amongst the most vicious and downright nasty weapons ever created. Small burns from things like ovens hurt a lot (as I found to my personal experience not long ago), so imagine being completely covered in fire... its pretty sick to be honest.

Quoted for truth. To those saying flamethrowers are/were 'awesome', remember that the flames were fired at living people, not a bunch of 1's and 0's. They're effective in games, but in real life, their only real use was as terror weapons. There was good reason why they're banned nowadays...

I don't think they are useful anymore. They were used to clear enemy bunkers in world war 2 i believe. We have technology now that is more compact with more versatile uses, making the flamethrower obsolete.
