Actually, it can be good, bad or neither.
It can be good when they get the game 2 weeks before release, and don't see enough of the game in those two weeks to make an opinion, in which case the longevity of the game is excellent.
It can be bad when they get the copy late from the developers because it was withheld from them due to a trend of negative scores, which means that the developers know it's crap and want to make some sales before the word gets out.
It can be neutral when they just didn't get the game. They can't review it if they don't have it.
