Also, putting everything in the same universe is a mess. There's a reason Batman movies don't include Superman or Wonderwoman. Well, that and nobody who counts wants to see Wonderwoman in a movie, it would seem.
I think the Avengers and the whole Marvel film universe (which just got another profitable film, several more on the way, and a TV series just around the bend) shows the market is wants or at very least can tolerate cross film continuity
To an extent, yeah, but someone like Batman almost lives in the real world most of the time, people like Superman and Wonder Woman don't.

For that matter, X-Men works best in its own universe, sticking them into an Avengers movie would be awkward.

Now, obviously, there are plenty of heroes that'd work well together. Only, there are those that don't so much, and sticking them all together just cause they exist might not be a great idea.

No, because Batman would just fuck everybody up, regardless of teams.
With planning maybe. But if they barely met on a street, just about every hero could beat Bats.

It wouldn't be a versus due to the fact that someone would have to lose... a draw would be a cop out, and make a rubbish pointless ending to the film.

There are some Marvel/DC colab comics, and they have some good stories in, usually joining characters together that are similar but just don't gel... The Batman vs Punisher one is awesome! With Batman stopping the Punisher killing Joker, and then Punisher telling it how it is... Batman is fucking nuts!

A joint team film would be cool though... just throw all the favourites in a pot...

Or they should just do a Hawkeye and Green Arrow vs Dark Arrow and Bullseye film... Because bows!

Nothing's impossible, except being unhappy in a poncho, but nothing else is impossible, so yes.

Should we we get our hopes up:

All things are possible but it's the probability that screws you over. The biggest hurdle is likely Warner Brothers Studios I would think. They've been twiddling their thumbs about Justice League for a long time and can't seem to make anything happen that isn't Batman or Superman; aside from those two WB just doesn't seem to care. I know of Jonah Hex and, Green Lantern happening but...well do I really want to remember those?

Once DC Comics has its own film studio (if Marvel can do it...) then not only could we finally see some excellent non-Batman films but we could possibly see Marvel/DC crossover films.

---

I think it would be more likely that we'll see Amalgam movies before we see Marvel/DC movies. Who here wouldn't want to see Lobo the Duck?!

And while this isn't a Marvel/DC or even an Amalgam thing, here's another thing that I want to see get made into a film:

Absolutely no. Marvel wouldn't risk their IP (which is gaining in value) compared to DC, which has offered nothing in terms of a collective force. Put another way, would you want to see Iron Man fight the Green Lantern... the one from the movie? I don't think anyone wants to see that one again. And most that would would have more connection to Iron Man (I'm just using him as an example, it could be any) so they'd be rooting for him.
Most people who watch these things have no connection to the comic industry and no idea about what happened in episode 24 of dohikkywhatsits adventure.

No. No. Maybe. Possibly. I dunno. It would be nice. Then again, Marvel and DC haven't had a crossover in the comics since JLA vs Avengers. Like Torbjoern said, an animated movie might work, but it would still have about the same licensing issues a live-action would.

Still, I wouldn't mind seeing Thor and Superman fight.

[sub][sub] Of course, Thor would win, but that's besides the point. [/sub][/sub]

Possible? Yes.

Probable? No.
Desirable? Not even a little.

If something like this ever actually became a reality I'd probably just give up on super hero movies from both companies. Coming together for a little crossover comic miniseries that you got a handful of people to spend a month or two making is one thing, but multi-million dollar movies with such a mind numbingly stupid premise? Please god, no.

If Marvel can't even get its principle franchises (Spiderman, X-Men, FF) for even one film, there's no way two rival studios, one of whom is clearly playing catch-up at this point, in a studio era of companies with death-grips on their money-makers are going to cooperate. That said, I wonder how Marvel vs. Capcom might play out?

I just got around to watching the Justice League cartoon and they throw all kinds of characters together from all over the map. The character mashups do create for some silliness. Like, why does Superman still pretend to be Clark Kent when there are other aliens running around in broad daylight? Why do some of the superheros still hold down day jobs? Seems like once your living on a space station fighting crime your not going to have much time for extra work. Don't even get me started on constancy vis-a-vis characters and their fighting ability. I'm not sure it matters though. The Justice League cartoon is pretty great in spite of, and sometimes because of, all the weirdness.

Disney and Warner have worked together before. DC would probably be the biggest opposition to it occurring.

There are inherent problems with combining the DC and Marvel universes though. Marvel takes place on Earth, in real cities (most notably New York). DC takes place on a fictional Earth in fictional cities. (All notably modeled after New York.) So it would be interesting to try and reconcile that.

I don't think it would be possible. Of course, a decade ago I would have said the same about the Avengers.

I wouldn't mind a 'battle' between Catwoman and Black Widow. Wink-wink, nudge-nudge.[/mind in gutter]

I don't see either side agreeing unless their big names win. Sure DC might let Aquaman get his gills kicked but they wouldn't want Superman or Batman to look even slightly shit. And Marvel wouldn't want any of their dudes losing either. It would be cool to see a DC Vs Marvel (Marvel Vs DC) game though, that way you can pick your own fights between the houses or even make mixed teams. Throw away any plot and it's just a slug-fest to allow fans to beat up Thor with The Riddler, so neither side has to argue about who wins as long as they are reasonably balanced.

Impossible. Way too much shitpiling with the movie rights of different characters going to so many different major studios for it to happen properly.

Would also take some major plot stupidity to make the fight fair for Marvel.

I mean, really, who besides Thor could contend with any member of the Justice League?
