Your thread title coupled with the first sentence had me thinking something went horrifically wrong in a threesome. The rest was a lot less awesome.

But ah, how long til you're healthy again?

Yeah, it'd probably be better if I had.. I dunno, maybe a cast or some crap to make it more visual. I just don't look that badly fucked...
Then the issue is one of communication. She's not 'getting it', or she does but she doesn't care. Once you know which one it is, you'll know what to do.

I can't tell you what to do, but personally I'd like my significant other to understand that something like that takes time and be willing to wait, knowing that I'd do the same for her.

Oh, been there, done that.

Apparently, I'm supposed to be a "man" about it. Like cos I used to be a soldier and I work a tough job I'm supposed to be immune to this shit.
Don't ya love that. Something horrible happens to a girl. ooooooooo I'ma girl fawn over me.

Something happens to guy. Man up!

This is why I refuse to be in a relationship. I see this shit everywhere, and no matter how nice the boyfriend is it's a one way street. I'm aware that there are many relationships where the guy is an ass - and bad thing deserve to happen to said asses - but c'mon!

This man was severely injured! Jesus is off with his Father making sure asteroids don't fly into the Earth! What does she expect! The savior wandering in and saying "Take up thy bed ApeShapeDiety and walk!!!!"?

Wow sounds like your girlfriend is adhering pretty strictly to traditional expectations of gender roles. If you need to "man up" then she ought to at least make you sandwiches.

As another human being I can understand that maybe your girlfriend is getting frustrated that it is taking so long for your body to heal fully. As another female I think your girlfriend is pushy--her expectations are much too high and if she is seriously talking about making you move out then either she's misunderstanding the situation or she is crazy.

I have free healthcare!!!!

xD

I'm gonna go with the bull shit on this one, she should at least try to be more understanding about your recovery. I mean 3 months afterwards is quite a while but injuries like that are a major *****. I hope you get better soon!

Ruptured disc. Haemoraged muscles + tendons = severe whiplash. I'm a boilermaker, so I haven't been able to work. (pretty pissed about that seperately) Warming up to go back to work I've been workin' at her business free of charge... Still hurts like hell but I'm back to work in a week or two.

Should I be putting up with this?
Not trying to sound like a dick at all and in all honesty you are right and she is being kind of a *****.

However I just wanted to say that a few months ago my parent were in the same type of accident you were in. My mother messed up her back and her leg that was already messed up due to ripping it to sheds basically when she was a teenager. My dad basically had the exact same thing you had and he still did all the work he normally did. Towed cars, help friends with heavy moving, fixed some cars etc etc.

Then again I would suggest you DON'T follow his path because he ended up making it worse and needed to have sugary on his shoulder.

yeah... that's totally the reason...

Nah I kid :p

I think, what you need to do is sit down and talk to her. If she gets flustered, don't get angry or anything. Then ,after you have explained your feelings and points/opinions. Then throw in an apology or something cause in my experience, it always helps (no offence meant girls!). If she still moans etc, then I would suggest seriously considering just getting out :/

hope this helps :D

Stupid stupid stereotypes, every time I see some one believe them so much I lose just a little more faith in the human race. Not all women are the same and while yes what you say is correct for MOST women it is not how ALL women act, Just like you can say most men are sex crazied asshole who care about no one but them selves, because most men are, BUT not ALL men are.

I have had 2 girlfriends in my life and both of them acted NOTHING like this guys girl. This girl just seems like a *****, the type of girl who would have been dumped by me.

Just saying.

Well the sad revelation in this case is her focus shifted from caring about you and now cares about your "provider" skills, it is very typical for a woman to do that because they do aim at putting together everything for a good home, sadly this sometimes means you are viewed as an asset that she needs.

And there are no solutions for this, it will always come to this point with women, you can only conform and provide monetary supply.
Sounds grim but don't worry, they view our sex demands in the same way :p

Don't worry about it, every kind of relationship becomes strained when you spend too much time together. Since you've been injured I'm guessing you've had to spend a lot of time at home (not your fault) while she has to go to work, run around all day and come home to find you on the sofa.

Once you get back to work things will settle down and go back to normal believe me. In answer to your question yes it is BS but you can understand where shes coming from, don't make a big deal out of anything and don't react if she says anything. The best thing you can do is apologise for the time you've been off work, tell he that things will be different and promise to take her out when you've earned enough again.

I kow it sucks but just man up take the blame.

Mmm.

I think some of you guys might be on to something re: "gender roles".

My girlfriend is Chinese/Singaporean. Not that I like the whole stereotype thing, but it kinda fits her. Eg., when I went over there to meet her family, I was expected to take them ALL out for a fancy dinner to show I was a good provider. (Inspite of the fact that at the time she was making considerably more than me)

Perhaps this whole thing is throwing that whole 'I got me a manly man' bit off balance for her. Add that to the stress of my not having earned a penny in 3 months and nearing the end of my savings... Not good.

In short, yeah, I'm pretty sure she's bein' a real ***** ATM, and that pointing that out won't be helpful.

Question is, do I throw in the towel on 3 1/2 years because of it?

The answer? Fucked if I know.
