Is anyone else getting sick of these new advertisements on The Escapist?

Advertisements are annoying, indeed. Then again, The Escapist gets money from them, so that's nice.

Luckily, for a while now, I'm getting less adds here, mostly for just the Escapist stuff. And very rarely for something else. No idea why, tho. The worst adds that I've seen on the Escapist were pretty disturbing, but luckily, it's been a long while since i saw anything disturbing-ish here. So, yeah. Glad I'm having mostly Escapist ones. If it gets too annoying, then there's always that Pub Club thing.

Sure I had tolerate most of the advertisements on here in the past (the one I didn't like was the video ads that took quite abit of my bandwith) but the newest one are annoying.

It's mainly because it make my web browser laggy if I had too many Escapcist pages up (well depending on the page itself) to the point that I get a a unresponsive plugin/ script window to appear.

In saying so however lately I am having less of this problem and I haven't seen those ads itself so I'm guessing the staffs did get rid of it.

Eh, haven't seen that one. Might be because I'm in the UK though.

The only ads I get particularly annoyed about are the Betfair/Channel 4 ad-captchas, that make you type in some daft long phrase in what seems like some sort of way to hypnotise you, via re-typing their message in.

Well, it doesn't work, and all it does is irritate me.

I know what you mean OP: I've had to refresh a page more than once to get an unobscured text-box. These things seems to come-and-go though so in no time the adverts will have changed to something else. My biggest problem is accidentally clicking one of the banner ads on the sides of the screen and opening up a new tab...
