Is anyone else hoping that Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will work out?

I know I'm most likely am not gonna play it. Either because my computer can't handle it, I won't have tne money for the monthly fee, I won't like the monthly fee, and/or because there are games that are possibly better and less expensive like Guild Wars 2. I more than likely won't play it for all of the above.

Still, I can't help but to hope that this overhaul will make the game at least decent and some-what successful. I just like the looks and style of this kind of Final Fantasy game.

Am I the only person who has some foolish hope that FFXIV:ARR will work out simply because they think it looks great? It wouldn't be the first time I got my hopes up about a great looking game for it to only suck, be okay, or completely unplayable, and Archeage looks much more promising and just as cool. Even though it most likely won't be released in NA for two years.

I hope it is successful not because I'd play it, but because I don't want Square to go under because of it. Square Enix is not in a good financial situation and I want them to finish Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 reMix and Kingdom Hearts 3.

I have no reason to hope it dosent and if they go under the chances of a FFVII remake or a third Dissidia on consoles goes from very little to almost nil.

Plus it does look interesting I probably wont play it though I just dont have the time or inclination atm.

I'd love to see it succeed, why not? I think that the game's initial flop has doomed it among the MMO crowd, though. It probably won't get another chance from a lot of people.

Not really, it isn't what I wanted from Squeenix. I'm still pissed off over the direction of their games lately. Where is goddamn Versus XIII? I'm indifferent. I don't want Square-Enix to go down but I don't have much faith in their ability to make good games any more.

This is about how I feel, I don't play MMO's so I am a bit biased on how well I want this game to do. I like the Single-player Final Fantasy games, not MMO's. I never played XI, so this game doesn't interest me.

I would get far more excited if they release a UK/US version of Type-0, or like MommothBlade said, Versus XIII, which has been in development for seven years.

It is starting to feel like MMO's are swallowing up the grand scale single-player RPGs. It is like when a RPG series becomes really popular, they make a MMO out of it, like Elder Scrolls and The Old Republic. I wonder if Dragon Age 4 will be an MMO.

They went the route of MMOs since FF XI was the best selling Final Fantasy out of all the Final Fantasy games. Which is sad because they shouldn't be trying this again because of how it is. As for Versus XIII I honestly lost all hope for it in the past, which sucks because the only reason the third Kingdom Hearts game hasn't been made is because the majority of the Kingdom Hearts team is supposedly working on Versus XIII. Let's not forget also that they are supposed to be releasing FF X HD and Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD reMix which is what I honestly would prefer at this point.

I want all the games to be good...

...except for your favorite one.

To be honest, despite liking some and hoping for a good one, I'm almost always skeptical about MMOs. I wasn't really interested when the Old Republic came out and I cringed when I heard that they were making an Elder Scrolls MMORPG. I doubt it's gonna be anything like Skyrim.

Knowing that there will always be single player RPGs, I wouldn't mind MMORPGs so much if more of them were actually fun AND accessible. Most suck, even some of the P2P ones aren't what I hoped for, and RaiderZ, TERA, Rift and I think GW2 are extremely high graphiced so I can't play them, except maybe for GW2, which is only a one-time fee and doesn't look as high graphiced as the other three.

As far as what you mean by the quality of their games lately, I can't entirely relate since I usually don't really care about Final Fantasy, though there has been a few FF games that I have wanted to play. Such as...FFXIV as a good MMORPG, for example.

I was hoping Square would cut their losses and not put any more money into FF14. Now if A realm reborned fails, Square would be in a much worse situation than if they had just let it die the first time.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn doesn't feel especially ground breaking. It's more like Medal of Honor: Warfighter. It was rushed once before, but these patches aren't enough for a genre that has taken leaps and bounds by other more ambitious developers with a free-to-play system.

[li]Final Fantasy XIII-3: Lightning Returns will fall behind the most meager expectations. The trilogy has lost momentum and they've now tossed out the entire story! [/li]

[li] Most fans of Kingdom Hearts have outgrown that Disney genre in favor of Metal Gear Solid 5, Remember Me, Dark Souls 2, and other more serious, hardcore games coming out in the next two years. [/li]

Square Enix will prosper worldwide only if they invest in western studios.

I'm really pulling for it. I love Squenix and their games, for the most part, and hearing them say that another disaster along the lines of the first FFXIV would ruin them really frightens me. I'm also worried about Lightning Returns. I liked FFXIII and XIII-2, but even so, a third game (and in its weird style) is pushing the limits of what fans will buy.

Nope, let squenix learn from their mistakes. It's about time the word "final" meant something in final fantasy.
