Well dagnabbit! Stole the words right outta my mouth!

I'll stick with CoD for multiplayer FPS till Battlefield 3 comes out.

Not really, at it's best, it's like they got the dimwits at fox news to come up with a theme for the game.

North Korea conquers America?

It's like a second rate 80s movie just under Red Dawn, except with less believability since the Reds haven't been much of a threat since '91....=/

Maybe, I'm a bit sceptical of it at the moment. No doubt, it sounds POTENTIALLY interesting but I can't count the number of games I've played that sounded awesome, but were borderline painful once I got my hands on them.

Eh. From what I've seen, the story looks kind of meh, and the multiplayer looks like it has too many vehicles.
Also, I find it strange that they have the writer for Red Dawn on for the story. I'm pretty sure that Red Dawn is a terrible movie.

No. It looks kind of generic, except for an exceptionally retarded story.
Pretty much this for me. The story for the game just sounds so damn stupid that is actually hurts to think about it. D:

If you're sick of COD then why are you excited for a game which seems to be ripping it off? I was excited for it but it's been pushing its multiplayer hard recently which is one of my pet peeves.

Acutally, yes I am.

Personally, I'm not going to buy it, because then I'd be cheating on my future bride Brink. But even so, I am looking forward to it coming out.

I know everyone seems to think it will be extremely generic, but I don't think so.
From what I've seen, it's in an incredibly intense, hard-hitting shooter that places you in desperate straits, allied with unlikely soldiers (including a Korean-American just to raise the controversy) and removing any of that heroic glory war shit that so many shooters have. Some ritzy technology and whatnot, and what I like best was in one of the dev walkthroughs;
No music.
No god-damn thrill inducing, heart pounding, inspiring music. Just the sound of gunfire, and civilians screaming, and people dying on both sides.

It seems to me like a game that has taste.

RPS preview was also fairly dire.

I'm most looking forward to Crysis 2, in terms of straight out shooters. Alright, in the broader scheme of things, it's aliens invading New York, but they've got two highly-received Sci-fi authors working on the story, and whilst it's also men in big muscle-y power-suits, they're also suits that drastically differentiate it from other shooters.

I would agree with you on Brink though, I'm keeping a close eye on it. The one thing I can't get my head around is that outside of the parkour, movement looks unbelievably sluggish. Just doesn't seem to gel well, but we'll see.

Hopefully we'll get a release date for Deus Ex: Human Revolution soon, but I don't count that as a shooter.
Deus Ex is coming out March 3rd, I believe. Same day as Dragon Age II.
I've saw a very recent interview and it's still just down for 2011 (although definitely for 2011). Hopefully it'll be this half of the year.

I'm excited for this in the same way that I get excited for Kane and Lynch: want the story, not so much the gameplay.

Not excited, but it's on my watch list. I figure the game play is going to be pretty standard stuff, but the story (improbable as it is) could have some potential. Just waiting for reviews to make up my mind how low for the price to drop before I buy it.

If you're really that sick of Call of Duty then why are you excited for something that looks exactly like call of duty? Hell, it even has the same story as Modern Warfare 2, except with North Korea standing in for Russia.

Its ok. The only problem with it is that the Russians were depicted as mindless animals that do evil shit for no logical reason just for the evulz, like that scene at the beginning of the film where the first thing a Russian paratrooper does after landing on American soil is running towards a college and then firing his valuable RPG rounds threw the school's windows to damage the school from the inside and kill students. You know because, why not?
From what I remember, those weren't Russians in Red Dawn, they were Cubans.

I am. I normally don't like generic military shooters, but this looks very good.

Add a couple 3-round burst weapons and it's CoD modern warfare 2. "Special" story, and the multiplayer is basically Ground War.

And I'm relatively sure they were Spetsnaz.
