Is Anyone Still Excited For Evolve?

Because I certainly am not. I really enjoyed the concept of it and was looking forward to getting it. I had a couple of friends saying they were looking forward to it as well and obviously having a pre-made group together for such a game would be a bonus (I hate playing multiplayer with random people :p). But the more I hear about it, the less appealing it becomes. At this point it seems as though the game itself is nothing more than a store-front built specifically to sell unprecedented amounts of DLC. Now I don't mind some DLC extras here and there and I do admit that a game like Evolve does seem like it would benefit from DLC monsters and hunters...but such things should come further down the line. I just finished watching Jim's latest video on youtube which covered this subject and found out that they were peddling pre-order bonuses and DLC before a single screen-shot had even been revealed. Gotta say I think that's jumping the gun quite a bit, and everything that 2K and Turtle Rock have come out with after that seems to support the notion that they're making this game for one reason: to sell shitloads of DLC.

As such I can no longer justify hyping myself up for it, and at this point I even strongly doubt I'll pick it up at all. What are your thoughts on the matter of the game, the game's DLC, or DLC in general?

We spent some time playing the press preview of it over at GameFront, and I can tell you this: It's going to be a ton of fun with a good team. I was pretty skeptical after seeing it at PAX East last year, but the experience of playing it over the last couple of weeks sold me.

If the DLC plan is a dealbreaker for you, I can totally understand that. All I'm saying is that it's a lot of fun to play if you have the right people to play with.

They've killed off any interest I had in this game within two the past two weeks. First, the Xbox elusive to skip grinding. I'm playing on PS4 and the fact they let you skip it, makes me think it will be terrible. Second, I'm very sure they promised five monsters and sixteen hunters on release, those now appear to be including DLC. Third, the price of that DLC is insane. I think it was 7.99 a hunter and 14.99 a monster? This game sounds like it has been shattered into sellable bits of DLC. It went from something I was gonna buy week one, to a bargain purchase at best.

I hate grinding
I hate DLC

...and the "Beta" (Demo) showed me that I don't even really care for the base game.

Even if it may look fun this game has raised far too many red flags since I learned about it. Kind of have to stay away on principle at this point.

I was kind of interested, but details about the DLC splurge recently came to my attention, which flushed any interest I had down the drain.

More time playing Hearthstone for me.

I am on the same boat that refuses to buy it based on the DLC nonsense. Maybe I'll pick it up down the line, but I doubt it at this point.

I was, but not after playing the beta.
The game is just so boring, a glorified game of chase. If the monster is good, the hunters will never see it until the very end where it will rip them a new one after fully Evolving.

This isn't even considering the awful DLC macro-transactions that I wouldn't tolerate in a F2P game let alone an
80 FREAKING DOLLAR GAME!

Its so disappointing. I love the concept of the game, I love asymmetrical multiplayer (Natural Selection 2 is one of my favourite games) but is seems Turtle Rock or 2K are killing Evolve before it even gets out the door

I thought the base game was really tight. I had a good amount of fun with it, think it has potential for a long enough life.

Not a fan of the DLC plan. I'm definitely not picking it up at launch. We'll see if a decently priced package comes along at some point. If not, oh well.

I haven't been excited for a AAA release in years.

That said, I at least have a bit of interest in Evolve. Just not enough to care about buying it immediately when it comes around.

Eh, I'm a little interested in it. The beta got me interested in it, but not enough to rush out day one. It'll probably be one of those games I'll pick up on a sale, long after the boat has sailed for the MP to be fun. As for the DLC situation, yup, it's kinda shitty but I rarely buy DLC unless it's for games I enjoy.

That's pretty much where I'm at right now. I still do like the concept of the game, but at this point I'm going to wait and see if they decide to sell it as, you know, a complete game.

Looks fun but there is just no way I am paying 100 canadian dollars for something like that. I'll pay 40 tops.

Extremely interested, actually. The main reason being that all of my friends are getting it, so I'm guarenteed a full team most days.

The DLC situation is pretty fucking shitty, but it's not a dealbreaker for me.

Honestly? I'm pretty excited. DLC isn't a problem for me so long as the base game is left intact and is in a playable state with the DLC just adding onto it to accentuate it. And since everything I've read about the game pretty much says that's how it's going to be, I'm not the least bit butt hurt over it.

None. I'm not paying £30 so I can be sold dlc. If it was f2p, I might try it but I'm not paying full price for a virtual storefront.
Same here.

In fact, I've gotten to the point that I'm not paying more than $40 for a new game anymore.

The industry's too rife with disappointments, bloated budgets, shit DLC and microtransaction policies, and general nonsense that I can't justify spending $60+ on a single media product anymore.

Now, while it may seem like I am, I'm not jaded. I really am not. I'm not even cynical about the industry. If anything, I'm hopeful. I see a lot of promise in the next few years. But as it stands, I can't bring myself to pay more than $40 for a game from the triple-A industry. I just can't do it.

This is why I was disappointed to hear that Grey Goo was launching for $50 or more.

It's s shame. I was really excited for the game after having tried the beta. But I'll probably be waiting for a price drop.

Which is fine. I've a backlog that needs tending to.

Absolutely not.

It seems like they're going with a F2P model except they forgot to not charge you 60 bucks for the base game. Doesn't looks like there's nearly enough content to warrant the full price. Heck, I don't know if it'd be worth it even if all of this DLC was just in the main game.
