Is Assassin's Creed 3 more difficult compared to the old games?

I have only played AC1 and AC2.

I didn't pick up the expansions because I've read that they were more of the same, only easier and easier. The ones I have played were fun for the first 10 hours or so, because of the lack of challenges they became a chore for the rest of my playthroughs.

I haven't played it that much, but it certainly feels more difficult. You can't chain insta kill attacks the way you could before and parrying and counter-attacking is a bit trickier. Overall it just feels more heavy and it DOES make it feel more difficult.

I really don't see any of the games as challenging. AC1 is kind of unique in that they forced you to evade guards after an assassination instead of just slaughtering them all, which was fun... except all those times when it was frustrating.

Combat in every single one of them has been pretty easy, which is made pretty clear with the endless running sword fight at the end of AC1 which is piss-easy. I liked Brotherhood's "I can't be bothered with this fight" mechanic. Revelations ran into the lack of difficulty problem by throwing a seemingly endless variety of bombs at us, without providing us with a single situation where you felt like you needed them. Mostly, the series is good at providing a lot of fun ways to take out your opponents.

It feels harder to me, if I want to I can still take on a garrison of guards, but I would have to be careful, not just counter over and over, but that is due to the introduction of firearms.

Assassins Creed 3 seems to be something that will last be several months, hell it took me hours to complete one of the missions early on because I refused to do it without full sync, then I caved and just finished it ASAP.

Argh, it kept the full sync mechanic? Goddamn it.

All the previous games were super, incredibly easy. The original AC had the hardest fights and even then they weren't difficult, at all. I haven't played III yet, though, but I suppose I shall see when I eventually get it.

ya its a bit harder then the last few game mainly because you dont get health pontions so you cant refill your health in battle

In the previous games I could easily take on large numbers of enemies. Now I actually have to be creative and run around picking up rifles some of the time.

I sure hope so. Not trying to be mister billy bad-ass or anything, and I really think a lot of people will agree, most of these games can be ridiculously easy. Honestly the crossbow and being able to just call 6 assassins at your will is just plain OP. The assassin gauge even refills at a ridiculously fast pace. Random battles with guards poses no real threat. You could kill the armed forces of the entire city if you were so inclined. Kinda makes me wonder why I even have to hide or parkour my way out of anything.

The most difficult and fun parts for me are the missions that require absolute stealth, else game over.

It sorta is, you have to think your way through fights now rather than just counter, attack, counter, attack. Countering doesn't kill someone now, it just blocks them so you have to time your attack to kill them otherwise Connor just throws them away. It's much better in my opinion, it just takes a little while to get use to.

Easier and easier? I thought those dudes in elaborate armour in Revelations were the most OP motherfuckers I've ever seen in a game. The only way I ended up killing them half the time was by shooting them from a mile away.

The combat is surprisingly different. It can be easy, it can be hard. It depends on how often cunts keep countering your goddamn counters. THat has made me rage quit about three times so far.

So after spending quite a bit of time at it... combat isn't hard, but it's not ridiculously easy either. Arrows are under-powered, guns take forever to load, and your health doesn't regenerate in combat meaning that if you jump into a large crowd of soldiers without knowing what you're doing, you'll likely end up running away before too long.

Once you get the knack of the different enemy types you'll be wading into groups of soldiers with barely a thought, but it takes a bit of skill to do so. And it can get pretty tedious in spots because of the large number of soldiers, so there's always an incentive to go the sneaky route.

Having just beat the game, I can say that the combat overall is piss easy, at least for me it was.
About the only time I actually had trouble was against the "elite" type enemies when I first started playing but once I figured them out, I had no trouble at all.

Seems quite a bit harder to me. I dunno, the counter-attack only seems to want to work when it wants to for me.
