Is being single really as bad as some people make out?

Now lets get this out of the way. I'm 16, i've had one girlfriend in my life who screwed me over so much so i went back to just being friends with people again. Now every time i go out and hang out with a group of people i hear them complain about being single which i feel doesn't make sense.

Being single seems to be a great choice for me, You don't have to try so damn hard to look good every day, just kinda take care of yourself, and that tends to look good in its own right. You don't have to worry about dating a girl someone likes and creating a rift and you tend to be happier just hanging out with people in general.

I know that people love the feeling of belonging when they are with someone they believe they "love" (come on, I'm 16, neither me nor my friends know what love is) and love all the rewards that being in a relationship brings. But is that really an excuse to be such a depressing person when you're single?

Any Opinions on this?

Nope. All that happens when you're not single is some woman tears your heart out and steps on it. I have a new love, booze, and my mistress is hate. I have a lot more fun.

at 16, it's pointless, when you get older... ehhh you might want to think about it.

Meh, I got by as being single, I get by as being with someone. But really, as long as you can keep your sexual urges in check, you don't need someone.

Depends on what you want in life. I'm a hopeless romantic, as in I'm always looking for someone that I can love and cherish and be with. But that's what I want. You seem to enjoy being single, so that's your choice of life. Enjoy that and ignore those who complain.

And while I'm usually depressed about being single (which I've been my whole life, I'm 15), I don't rant on about it. Only the attention-craving ones are the ones who *****. Which is weird, since I'm the biggest attention whore on the face of the Earth. I wonder if there's a correlation in any of the aspects I mentioned...

If you're single and you've never been in a relationship before or you're a person who needs to have that kind of social connection, than of course you're going to long to have a partner. It varies from person to person. Some people get along being single better than others.

Remember the community your talking to....

But really, no it's not bad being single. I'm a college student, I don't have time for love. Maybe after I graduate.

Hell no. If women didn't have vaginas or tits relationships would probably be some form of capital punishment.

For an introverted guy, being single is heaven... Well for me it was anyway, no one to bother me when I was in my own dream world.

But I like to think you reach a certain point of maturity and realise that while you may be introverted, you need someone to pull you out of that self-love and go and experience things in life that you are missing.

I've had a few girlfriends, some were good, some were terrible, but the one I have now is the first I've ever actually loved. When you experience that feeling of being totally comfortable with someone, you will understand why people don't like to be single. That or they can't stand to be alone with their own, hideous personality of course.

Girls have always brought me out of my shell, and I've been converted from introverted bastard to someone who probably needs a girlfriend now. This is bad if I get dumped, but I don't see that happening, so I'm just riding the awesome to the end of the rainbow to find my pot of gold.

I'm pretty sure with the level of intelligence that can be seen on this forums that many people on here have had some relationship of some sort.

there is no overall problem with being single in my eyes, not being tied down to someone, not having to worry about seeing the person every winking hour of the god dam day and you can get piss drunk and not have to explain to you're girlfriend why you had checked that smoking hot blonde chick at the bar or whatever the situation has to offer.
and tell your friends to actually do something about their problems with being single. hot chicks with a light on upstairs do not just fall out of the sky

Don't get me wrong, I never accused the people of having no relationship at all, but in general the people here are usually single. Myself included, so the opinions may be a little bit bias.

In my opinion, its better to be single unless you really connect with the person your dating. If you're dating someone for the hell of dating someone, then thats just plain dumb. But if you actually take time to know someone, and the two(or three or four?) of you hit it off, then hey, go right ahead. But being single isnt that bad. Im single, 15, and I'm fine.

Which is why i said have had. I don't assume many people on here are currently in a relationship and my question works either way, i just want to see different people's opinions.
