I think people should stop asking for others opinions, as everyones differs. Everytime a new games comes out I always see stuff like this, its ridiculous.
Theres a few possible solutions though:
1 - Read reviews or look at gameplay videos to help see the good and bad points.
2 - Rent the damn thing.
3 - stfu asking stupid questions like this when games get high scores. Really, if you can't tell a game is good by an overall score of 88/100 then something is wrong with you.
Hey guy just thought id ask what you think of the new bioshock as im in two mind as to get it or not I realy enjoyed the first but ive heared this one isnt as good.
If you liked Bioshock 1, then it's probably worth getting if you have the money to get it. I don't, so I won't be getting it for a good long while. I want it though.
oh yes i see now, with all that reasoning behind watching gameplay vids. thats bullshit little clips mostly ones made to sell the game wont help, i agree that the only way to truely know is to play the game, but the next best thing is to know what other people's thoughts on a game. Its better than showing eye pleasing short clips.
It doesn't matter who made the clip, it matters if it's showing gameplay. For e.g. here's a developer diary for Bioshock 2. A 9 min long gameplay video.
You know what's even better than watching gameplay videos?
Wathing gameplay videos AND asking for the opinion of other gamers.
OT: I recommend getting it. It's a nice story, nice graphics, good gameplay. Combat is better than before, as you don't have to switch between plasmid and weapons. Makes it a lot smoother.
And the Big Sisters are sweet. Can I have one?
As mentioned, it doesn't have the "spark" the first one had, but that is mainly since it's not a new setting, but another visit to an old one, aswell as the fact that it's a place falling into ruin, not under construction. So they can't really add much in the style department except more rubble, and that doesn't count.

Bioshock 1 and 2 are both good games. But none is as great as people say they are. It's a fun game but get it when it's a little cheaper. Won't be long now. I know I wish I had.
The Story was the only thing that was good about the first one in my opinion, and it just didn't scare me. I actually thought there was greater tension and combat in the second one, and the setting and story were almost as good as the first. What I'm saying is I don't enjoy games just because of one aspect.
I mean, if the story is the only good part, why would I replay it? I actually wan't to replay Bioshock 2. This is just my opinion.
Well I've never been a fan of the Bioshock series. Never like the first one. But then again i hardly played it so i don't really know. But i'd say yes just because of its overwhelming critical praise.
It took a little while, but I actually liked the second more than the first. It might have lacked that "new" spark of the original but the story was very personal this time around. It left more of an impact on me.
yes definetly get bioshock 2. the gameplay and combat is much improved and the story is excellent as well, however not as compelling as the first but i think that is only because we are familiar with rapture this time around and pretty much know what to expect from the city and its inhabitants.
for the people that are saying read reviews and watch gameplay videos- you are right, that is a good way to get started when you are deciding if you want to buy a game. however even after doing all that sometimes you are still on the fence about it, as i was with dantes inferno. so i think that the best way to decide after that is to ask people who have actually played the game and can give you the pros and cons. also, personally i think it is pefectly acceptible to ask peoples opinion of a new game on a GAMING WEBSITE.

Of course it matters. Gameplay videos just show what a game looks like. If you care about more than graphics then it doesn't tell you much at all. The videos for Assassin's Creed made the game look incredible, and boy were they wrong.
It's a much better game than the first one, but sadly familiarity breeds contempt, and the only differences are very subtle ones. It doesn't quite have the X Factor of the first game, but still a worthy purchase. It's interesting to note the shifts in theme, whereas the first game was all about self-preservation, in this game the focus is on the needs of the many. If you like reading too much into things, the aforementioned subtle differences are enough to write a book about.
Uhg...new dose not make things better..... the game is still a bad RPG set upon a wonky FPS with top notch art deco.... still as much as I haz a tree in my rear over the nuances of the game its still modestly above average and thus worth owning.
I think it's worth a play. While the story isn't as strong as the first in my opinion, some of the gameplay mechanics (hacking for instance) are an improvement over the first. It is also extremely satisfying smacking Splicers over the head with the Big Daddy drill.
The combat is a lot cooler this time around and I enjoyed both game equally. I liked the changes they made to the camera and the invention system and the the upradgedPlasmids is far more noticeable.
I'm really just excited about the chance to revisit Rapture in a different context.
However, has anyone been noticing occasional disconnects during multiplayer matches? Often it returns everyone to the library with a message about a server disconnect or something.
