Magic. *snort snort*

Ehh, some My Little Pony TV show that had far greater writing quality than expected, and it caught on, attracting a wide audience range. Although, I've been finding that quality to be dimming, lately.

Guess I'll just stick with works like Rosario + Vampire and El Goonish Shive.
I'm just a little bit fazed, I'd never expect a talking pony kiddy show to hit a bigger demographic than little girls and here it seems to have a fanbase practically as big as Star Wars's. People actually take it seriously?
Oh boy, my first opportunity to link this!

It's basically an entirely new show despite the MLP name, bucking the gender stereotypes that characterized previous iterations of the series. That, combined with viral word-of-mouth via the internet, helped create a perfect storm of sorts.

I'll admit, I thought it was absurd when I first heard about it. I decided to watch a few episodes to see what all the fuss was about, but I really had to force myself to go through with it. Four hours and ten episodes later, and I come to the sudden conclusion I became a fan somewhere along the way without even realizing it.
Yeah... I'm not buying the "entirely new show" thing. We live in a time and age where we're encouraged to throw overboard everything we know about anything to quickly appreciate (i.e. consume) its newest recycled form. No disrespect for MLP or its fanbase, I'm just not a fan of revisionism of any kind. I read about MLP and all I can think of is this:

Sort of. He enjoys the show, but is not TO excited for it. He does like Adventure Time better.

Let's be honest with ourselves: we couldn't possibly believe that the case, when Bob spelled Applejack with a space, because no true brony misspells any of the characters wrooooooooooooong.

Consider the fact I never heard of the game "Applejack 2" then it wasn't clear as an joke.

Even then I wouldn't necessary belived Bob to be a brony mainly because of his work schedule mention in one of his video (he work all night and has little time to do other stuff than to go to the gym. I do know he is aware of the show existence.
He quipped about it in a Q&A on his other show, The Game Overthinker. Apparently so many people asked him which was his favourite pony, he answered a dozen times, with a different answer each time.

This thread has remind me of something I was thinking about not too long ago. I wonder what Yathzee thinks of the show and bronies in general. Assuming he even gives a damn.
He gave an opinion about it on the Excapist Expo, on the Fan-boys panel. What it boiled down to was he didn't think most people where sincere about it.
Something tells me he would say that.

Oh yeah, they definitely take it seriously. For some, taking it much too seriously is half the fun. For example, I've spent a few hours of my life discussing what could have happened in the past for one of the most abundant natural resources in Equestria to be immaculately cut precious gemstones and how that would effect the economy of a matriarchal society where fashion is an extremely important industry.

Not to mention the fairly clear caste system that separates the pony races and the diarchic governing system ruled over by beings who are ostensibly two god-empresses. And a major part of that government's public services is controlling every aspect of the environment: the sun and moon rising, the manufacture and scheduling of weather, the changing of the seasons, and providing care for the local wildlife. In fact, their lives are so ordered that the idea of an uncontrolled system where weather happens all on its own is looked upon in fear because to them it just so far from their normal.

I was always the guy who over thought stuff. That's why I like MLP and take it seriously. It's wacky and applying logic to it leads to fun places.

Sorry, I stopped reading after "Equestria".

We live in a age where vampires sparkle so thus I assume that whatever makes my little pony popular has to be more manly then sparkling vampires thus more cool which made it ok to love them I guess... Im still on your side though on the confusometer

I just automatically assume everyone in America is a brony now to be honest.
I take great offense to this. I am not now nor shall I ever be a brony. I'd like to see the show canceled and replaced with something more worth while like watching paint dry or grass grow. Really anything counts as more worth while in my opinion.

He doesn't really seem to be the type that bronies usually are.

By which I mean the type that's defined as 'desperate'.

Fair enough, sir. I'm certainly not about to try and force anything on you.
That's OK, I wasn't trying to be mean or anything but it's the honest truth, I read the word and my inner voice went BAHAHA. My loss.

No, I get that. This show isn't for everyone and pretending otherwise is simply foolishness. I had much the same reaction when I first got into all this. And if I came across as stuffy and offended, I apologize. There's a distinct lack of politeness on the internet, so I've always gravitated toward it. Not to mention that some bronies are completely obsessive and will try and cram the show down people's throats like it somehow validates their lifestyle, as if it needed validation in the first place.

I got a better question. Who gives a shit? So he may or may not like my little pony. I like the modern warfare 2 demo. A bunch of you guys probably like kirby games or zelda or whatever can be considered childish and/or stupid. They're called guilty pleasures. Everyone has them. Get over it.

He's not. He has said that he liked what he saw of the show and can understand why so many people love it, but no, he himself is not what you would call a brony.
