Is Bones deteriorating in quality?

The first 3 seasons of that show were AMAzing, but it seems to have gone downhill recently. The writing I've noticed, has become awkward, with the characters frequently talking about sex and their love lives, but in a "let's take a trip back to high school, lawl!" kind of way, also usually in the most inappropriate of times (like driving to a crime scene, or sometimes even at the crime scene).

Also, it seems like the cases have taken a turn towards novelty, last season being a huge example of this; guy in santa suit, chicken suit, witch, etc.

And it seems like they've become a personal advertiser for Toyota. I remember 2 individual recent episodes, one where Angelia is in the car with a friend and she says something like "I love my Sienna, it's so spacious", another one where Hodgins and another character who I forgot, were in a Toyota, and all of a sudden a beeping happens, confused for a moment, one of the characters eventually says "Oh it's my Toyota warning us that we're going over the lane line".

Anyway, is this all in my head, or have you Bones watchers out there sensed this decline in the show quality as well?

Doesn't really bother me, but I suppose I'm not to picky about what I watch...

I won't be able to stop watching it until those two hook-up if they get close to hooking up and don't one more time I'm going to head-butt the writers in the face.

I felt that after Zack's character left the show, it just began spiraling downward. Sweets' character was a great addition, but I do agree that the cases have become more novelty and the writing is just poor. Nothing will ever come close to the awesomeness that was the Gormagon case, but it just doesn't seem like there's any passion left in the show.

Some of the cases last season were a bit hokey, but they seem to be moving in the right direction with the new season. Toyota is a major sponsor, and they are a bit ridiculous with the promos sometime. The one you're referring but can't remember the specifics on was Bones' Prius. (Doesn't she have a convertible sports car from her publisher?) Man, this Arizona Sweet Tea is amazing. I do miss Zach though, terribly so.

Decaying! [small][sub]Wrong show, idiot.[/sub][/small]

OT: never really watched it, but I did catch an episode in the early days, and it was pretty good. Now it seems I can figure out what happened from some of the "next times".

Entirely agree with this sentiment, the Gormagon case was pretty much the pinnacle of the entire show, nothing before it was quite so awesome and nothing after it ever matched up. The loss of Zach was just disappointing as he was easily one of my favourite characters. Everything kinda went downhill, trying and failing to perform to the standard set by the Gormagon arc, which is a shame really because I used to be very fond of the show.

Sadly, I gave up on it about half way through series 4, it just started to bore me as each case got increasingly more ridiculous.

Personally, I don't watch the show but I find a lot of other shows start going downhill after their 5/6 season. That's probably what's going on with Bones. Here's a chart that shows the 'lifespan' of TV shows, see if Bones matches up.

i think that it's not actually declining, but rather having a rocky start from last seasons ender. when i watched the goodbye episode i was sure that that was it for Bones and that it was being canceled (and it really did seem that way, it really could have been an ender for the series). then at the end they said that another season would be around the next year. it's like the producers decided to throw in the towel and then after filming the last episode they were like, "hey... this stuff is too good to get rid of, let's see if we can go some more.". so now they have to make episodes to seg-way into the new season, and to be quite honest, is a hard task in comparison to the ending episodes of last season. basically, i think that Bones is having a slow start but will soon pick up speed.

ps, i think sweets should have kept the beard and that hat

I've seen some episodes of Bones through different seasons, but without any prejudice I've found the show lacking quality as a whole. If you don't have quality, you can't lose it
