Okay, so i just noticed something: most people play borderlands with at least one other person. I myself just got borderlands, and i love the darn game, i even have a friend who i played it with, but for some reason my game bugged up and i ended up switching mission logs with him. so i started a new character and played by myself in single player, cause i'm not ruining another character because i'm playing online. so, people, is borderlands properly played alone or with at least one other person?

It's a game meant to be played with full coop, four players, each finishing the game from start to finish. Although it is far too easy and doesn't really require teamwork, but it's better like that anyway.

I find that it's all the more enjoyable playing with a friend. Playing with random people online is kinda boring and pointless since too few people I found have mics and they always take all the good weapons that end up being spawned anyways, so I would rather play alone as opposed to with them.

I don't think there is really a "right" way to play it, just whatever you find more fun.
That said, I find it much more fun in multiplayer. I have a buddy who I played through the whole game with and it never seemed to get boring. I think I only got about a quarter the way through by myself before I got bored.
I think it's a little easier with more people, too. Having 500 people shooting at you is much easier to manage when they have a second target.
[sub]Even though half the time I just Phasewalk and send everyone after my pal, but let's not go into that.[/sub]

Far more fun with people you know. I really didn't enjoy it much solo, and that's one hell of a weird glitch you got.

It's properly played with any amount of people. However it's a hell of a lot more fun with a few friends.

Though i suppose by "proper" you're asking if the game was designed with either in mind? ...It was definitely designed more for multiplayer.

Also that glitch can happen when one of you DCs, usually it just set's em back a few steps in the quest you just did. I doubt it was a full on switch >.> ...mostly because that kind of data is saved locally.

Crawmerax the Invincible takes more than one person that's for sure. It took me and three other using elemental weapons specifically suited to effectively kill all the Crab Worms and damage Crawmerax, but at the same time had took keep at least one person locked in battle with him while we respawned or his health would go back to full.

For the actual game: More people = tougher enemies = better weapons

So yeah, I guess.

You don't have to do it in multiplayer. I did the whole thing by myself. I got on fine, and had a lot of fun.

I play it single player mostly, but sometimes my friend plays it with me.

Yes as we all know it was created as a co-op game. What kind of question is this?
Before you start a new thread for it, Mario party and CounterStrike are also meant to be played in multiplayer. You are welcome.

I had fun playing it solo, but not nearly as much fun as playing it co-op with my fiancee sitting next to me.

Borderlands is pretty much the only game that promotes same room, split-screen co-op.

Yeah, its just more fun with partners. There are more and stronger enemies, better loot, and someone to talk with during those long walks back and forth between places. Diablo was the same way.

It's a hack&slash (uh... except with guns, so shoot&smack?) RPG, so the entire game is basically pure grind and loot collecting. If find that fun while playing alone, great, go ahead, but many people only find that kind of gameplay fun with other people.

I'm pretty sure the devs intended it to be played co-op, but you don't miss out on anything by playing single-player (other than the company of other players).

I played through it alone and I enjoyed it quite a bit.

I can't remember grinding at one point in the game. I went places and killed what I had to kill to get past, but I do the same in Batman Arkham Asylum, Super Mario Bros. and basically every other game except Deus Ex where I have as little contact with the enemy as possible while sneaking past guards.

I played through it solo. It wasn't until I started my new game+ that it got too hard to solo(way to many of those super enemies -_-). The only thing that was really annoying was the vehicle quest when you reach the second zone.
Died so many times on that one.

Both modes are fine, though I'd play single player over online with strangers. The important thing is that I'm always allowed to set midgets on fire, and what's more important than that?

Yes, but that doesn't mean you should.
The matcmakin system was awful, on PC anyway, and if you joined a pub server, everyone would just bomb off without you. It was like 4 people playing solo campaign in the same world.

It's ok to play it alone, if you want to actually know what's going on that is the only way to play.

But with other people you wouldn't notice that the content get's real paper thin towards the end, and on multiple playthroughs you will be bored out of your mind going at it alone, they ramp up the monsters to the point where it just feels like an MMO grind fest.

I think it was originally meant to be prefferably played in multiplayer, forgive me if im remembering wrong but that was a big part of the hype was this is a game meant to be played cooperatively, big problem with that, atleast for me, was that playing split screen on the same console, player 2 automatically had the active quest of player 1 even if they were lower level and not as far along in the story, most of the time not a problem but it did cause a couple of characters playthroughs to get horribly glitched luckily i never broke my Mordechai save file.
