Is borderlands worth it?

It's an ok game by itself. But its a whole heck of a lot more fun with friends.
If its cheap and you're willing to traverse the digital landscape to play with people you don't know I'd give it a shot.

Its a good game I played mostly single player but mp is fun with decent people, the only real downside is the story theres really not much there but theres plenty of characters to keep the game interesting, the dlc's are really the best part since they've got an actual story along with all of the goodness that the rest of the game has. Its a fun shooter with a different style and some good humor definitely worth picking up at the bargain price.

Multiplayer/Co-op certainly makes the experience very enjoyable and fun, but that doesn't make the single player bad or boring to play. Albeit it is more dull and boring, but it is still fun and addicting. I highly recommend that you play online if you ever get a chance, it's a fun. Just be sure to host your own room and kick the high level players and/or modders.

The final boss was an epic troll, no loot and its super easy.. no payoff from that game unless you like wasting your time along the ride.

Only if you really like grinding.

Well... no. No, you don't have to grind at all. There's always heaps of stuff available at your character's level. And even if you did choose to grind, then it'd still be enjoyable.

I'd say go for it.

Don't look at any screen shots from the PS3 exclusive build of the game (before the cel-shaded graphics were implemented) and you'll like the current Borderlands just fine.

Not mad that it wasn't a PS3 exclusive, just disappointed with the changes. I liked what I saw when the game was initially announced.
