As long as you keep your child away from all the online jerks, you'll both be fine.

I did the same as your kid with Doom at his age, watching my dad play. I'd say explain it to him, maybe let him watch, play later, BUT NOT ONLINE. Once he is ready for online, lock communication. The worst part of Cod is the community. I wouldn't even allow voice communication until 12.

Also let him know it is fantasy, and guns do not solve problems but extend them. Violence is never the answer unless it is used only to protect. Cod won't teach morality.
