Yeah I've been playing it on Live too, and there's still a decent amount of people playing. You can get in to a full Hardcore Search and Destroy match with no problems at all. As an added bonus, no one really gives a fuck about their stats anymore, so barely anyone glitches or cheats. Everyone's in it for fun these days. And I kind of wish more people would play COD4 on the 360, it seems like all my friends only play MW2. And I don't have it any more due to a terribly unfortunate accident with the sander.
I've been playing COD 4 on Live lately, there is always people playing. For the overall topic as a whole; yes people still play it, it's a great game. Despite what most existing population of the human race will most likely tell you it's far superior to MW2. Most games that have an online community usually don't lose them.
